As temperatures rise this summer, you must watch out for signs of heat exhaustion in your dog! In hot weather, fun adventures in the sun with your pup can quickly turn into an emergency situation if you're not vigilant!
🌟Prevention is key!! 🌟
🔥During outside activities, watch out for signs of overheating: excessive panting, ladle tongue, curling of the tongue, excessive drooling, and/or lethargy.
🔥If you see these signs, cool your dog down immediately--DO NOT WAIT!
🔥You can take them to a cooler area (such as inside or in the shade), wet them with cool water, put them near a fan, and offer them water to drink.
🔥If their symtpoms do not improve, seek help from a vet.
Preventing your pup from getting too hot in the first place is the best thing you can do!
☀️Puppies are much more susceptible to overheating than adult dogs 🐕
☀️Dogs can overheat even while swimming💦
☀️DO NOT leave your dogs in a hot car, even with the windows rolled down
☀️Keep a kiddie pool full of cool water in your backyard when playing with your pups and teach them to cool off in the pool💧

▶️ It's play time 🐾
Have you ever wondered what mutual play looks like between dogs? Have you ever questioned if your dog is playing well with others? Here are a few clear signs that you should look for:
1) There is an invitation to play. In this video, the adult dog is initiating play with the puppy and then backs off to let the puppy join in.
2) Both dogs' tails are wagging consistently throughout their play.
3) Both dogs stay relaxed and loose during their playtime. Their bodies are floppy, and their movements are a bit exaggerated.
4) The dogs are taking turns. One dog is on the bottom during wrestling, then the other. They switch roles willingly and regularly.
5) Both dogs are being gentle. They engage with each other, but they keep their mouths soft and pawing light.
6) Neither dog is overstimulated by their play. They are playing voluntarily and keeping a bouncy, fun demeanor.
