I always say: One kitten is half a kitten. Two kittens are a whole!

Often, first-time adopters feel overwhelmed by the idea of bringing home a pair, and believe it will be easier to adopt a solo kitten…only to realize later that they wish they’d adopted a duo! As someone who reads a lot of adoption applications, trust me: a lot of solo-kitten adopters end up wanting a second kitten after all.

Paired adoptions make me happy, but I do lots of solo kitten adoptions too, as long as the adopter has another young cat in the home to be the kitten’s friend. Our kittens adjust beautifully to homes with young, playful cats! Interestingly enough, we didn’t have any paired adoption applicants for my current crew of 4…but we had several applications from people who had recently adopted a solo kitten and regretted not adopting a second!

One adopter told me that she’d adopted a kitten just days earlier, then went to the vet and was told “you need to get a second kitten,” so she applied with Orphan Kitten Club for a little friend. (LOVE that advice—thank you, vet!)

I share this to say that if you’re a first-time adopter considering a solo kitten, consider adopting a pair. I promise I’m not just trying to upsell you on kittens! Two kittens will keep each other entertained, learn new skills from one another, take out their energy on one another, and enrich each others’ lives. And when you adopt a pair of young friends or littermates, they’ll be bonded immediately!

If you’ve recently adopted a solo kitten and have no other cats at home, it’s not too late to get them a little buddy to bond with for life. Every time an adopter applies to pair one of our kittens with their new kitten, I tell them: you are making a very smart decision!

Meet Jasper! 🤩
Jasper is a 1-year-old boy tabby cat with oodles of personality! He adores other cats, people, and would likely be okay with a dog. Jasper was abandoned as a younger cat, so he is learning how to properly cat and doing a fantastic job.

Jasper is a total character! He is spunky and silly and is having a ball discovering a world of friends and toys at Cat Tales Cat Cafe.
Jasper is a very handsome stripey tabby with gorgeous green eyes! He is dollop of sweet with a dash of spicy which makes for a very entertaining companion. 😄
There is no shortage of personality with Jasper.

We made our first community cat food delivery yesterday! 🤩

Cat Tales earmarked part of the AMEOWZING 'Backing Small Businesses' grant we received in June to go towards providing food for some of our community cat caretakers. These are the lovely people who are feeding and looking out for the unadoptable kitties of our area.

All of the cats we support have been trapped, neutered, vaccinated and returned to the homes they know- aka TNVR! 😻
If you feed em- FIX em!

Preventing litters is the most important thing we can do to reduce cat suffering and euthanasia , especially in the state of North Carolina.

We are excited to make more deliveries soon!

FEATURED FOSTER ALERT! 😻

Max is a dapper and adorable 10-year-old sir who was declawed at a young age. What he lacks in claws he more than makes up for with his FABULOUS whiskers. He is a walking art deco piece with a friendly and slightly goofy personality. He is chatty and friendly and everyone who meets Max oooohs and ahhhhs over him!

Max had a loving home and a person who adored him, but when the family became blended with too many animals, it was too much for Max. Max is a sweet and regal yet derpy king who is looking for a quiet home with his very own person. He had a dental in 2022 so his choppers are good to go. No worry about dental expense. AND he recently had a senior blood panel done and it's SPECTACULAR! The vets all swooned over this perfect gentleman. 🤩

Max's perfect home is one that is relatively chill. He likes to hang around and be part of the action, as long as the 'action' is watching TV, reading a book, or birdwatching. He adores the screened in porch in his current foster's home. He would prefer to be the star of the show, and the only pet.

Max is a polite fellow who would make an excellent, easy-going companion. Max is in his glorious prime and is looking for his forever person. He is lovable and amazing -and- have we mentioned those WHISKERS?!? 🤩🤩🤩

Raise your leg if you're ready to find your forever person! 🤩

Here is our precious Cobbler. Sweet Cobbler has been adopted and returned 2 times. Cobbler is fantastic with the cats at the cat cafe, but for some unexplainable reason, she has not gotten along with the cats in her adopters homes. Just goes to show that sometimes chemistry is everything!

So we are still on the hunt for Cobblers perfect people. Her adopter ADORED her. She has videos of how absolutely loving and affectionate and snuggly Cobbler is in a home setting. She loves to snuggle and make biscuits while giving the worlds best cuddles.

Cobbler is just about to turn 2 and we want to give her the gift of forever love. She is great with kids and likely respectful pups. She is a total score and her adorable nubby tail is the cherry on top of this sweet treat. 💜

A WHOLE day dedicated to remind pet owners to check their pet's microchips! THAT is HOW AMAZING AND IMPORTANT microchips are!
They are tiny , rice sized little miracle workers! 🙌

Have your vet scan your pet's chips yearly- they can migrate! Make sure your contact info is updated and correct. There are microchip clinics all the time where you can get your pet chipped for next to nothing! 🤩
Microchips have been game changers for reuniting lost pets. Please don't let your beloved pet be a statistic. 💜

😺Happy International Cat Day!😺

On this day in 2018, we announced for the first time that a Cat Cafe was going to be opening in Chapel Hill!

It was still a very obscure business model and a new concept to most people at that time. We would never have imagined that by 2024 we would have survived a pandemic, helped launch a nonprofit rescue, be closing in on 900 adoptions, and have a 4 page feature in Chapel Hill Magazine! Thanks 😻

It's been a wild and very exciting ride. Never a dull moment, that's for sure! Thanks so much to our wonderful community for embracing and supporting us since the beginning. We have always had the greatest staff that we adore and could NOT do this without them. And we treasure every adopter who has fallen in love with a Cat Tales kitty.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to do more good on an even deeper level though Cat Tales Rescue NC. 😻

Reason number 1,273,736 to support TNVR!

Meet Snotty McGee! 🤧

A few weeks ago we helped a caretaker capture this fella to get him the help he needed!
He had a raging upper respiratory infection that made his nose so snotty it was collecting everything in his path! 🥴

The amazing team at Orange County Animal Services (NC) got him right as rain! He was given antibiotics, and once healthy he was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and eartipped.

He is now back at the home he knows with a caretaker he adores!

Hooray for Mr McGee! 😃

We are SO INCREDIBLY LUCKY to have a county shelter with a vet, a surgical suite, a TNVR program and a team of caring individuals. We appreciate them so much! 🧡

And many thanks to the wonderful caretaker who reached out for help AND welcomed him back with open arms! Yay! 😻

Then you must meet Salem!
This guy is a total character! He is a rascal in all the best ways. He LOVES to wrestle, loves to play, and loves to learn!

Salem is a cat who wants a job! He would be really well suited for a safe, indoor outdoor situation. He would THRIVE in a workshop, business or a farm. He is social and loves people, so he definitely doesn't need a feral "barn cat" type situation. He just gets bored and acts like a toddler! A bored Salem is a naughty Salem!

He would also do great with an active family with older kids. Just no studio apartment life for this guy! He would be totally smitten with a dog pal or a large rough and tumble cat sibling.

Salem is such a cool cat. It's kinda crazy he hasn't been snatched up! He is incredibly good looking and has no shortage of personality.

Does your pet need a pet? 😆

If you have a cat loving cat who is looking for a friend to romp around with, then Pretzel is your guy!

This cutie ADORES other cats. In fact we REALLY want him to have a pal or 5. He can be rough and tumble with friends like Salem, but was also really sweet and delicate like with his friend Treasure. He is a smart and sensitive little dude!

He takes a second to warm up to new humans (don't we all?!) . But when he is napping you can rub alllll over him including his belly! He loves to play, and is always down for a kitty cuddle puddle.

Pretzel has been tons of fun at the cat cafe and seems to enjoy the activity and loves all of the cats. He seriously has never met a cat he didn't like. He is a consistent favorite because he loves to play but isn't over the top. And he is CUUUUTE!

Pretzel turns ONE year old in 3 days! Lets give him the best present ever- the gift of a forever family! 😻😻😻
