Proud teacher moment… 🥰🐴

During Bayla’s lesson yesterday, her mom told me that they were discussing the possibility of Bayla becoming a horse trainer when she grows up.

This makes me so happy! The thought of a young person, sharing knowledge and helping horses through teaching them to be valuable equine citizens makes me have hope for a bright future. 🥰🐴

We had a wonderful time last night at the Eagleville horse show! Our students Bayla, Tiana, and Krysta rode well and had a great time! Our good man Ray, and Lady Glitter did their best to accommodate the girls in the fun games classes. Looking forward to many more!

Sunday was a big day for our student, Bayla. After riding (and showing) our school master horse Ray for a year, Bayla’s skills were high enough to advance to our younger and faster, Carmen. Bayla had her eyes on Carmen for quite some time, and she was not disappointed! Carmen is a powerhouse, but Bayla rose to the occasion and they got along beautifully. I love seeing young people excited about horses!

I was honored today by the opportunity to present my Bit Class to the officers of Tennessee Mounted Patrol Units. The presentation took place at the Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville, as a part of their training week. Metro Nashville police, plus members of units from across Middle Tennessee were in attendance. I was so happy to share knowledge with these fine men and women who are so important, protecting our communities.

Please join us for our class…

Demystifying Bits

In this class we will examine different types of bits, their uses, and levels of sternness. Snaffle v. Curb. What metal alloys bits are made of, and why it matters. We will look at and discuss bitless options such as side pulls, hackamores, and bosals. When they are used, or not used by professionals, and why. I will have many bits here to study, but please bring your bits! The more the better.

This class will be taught by Karen Milostna Bielecki, professional trainer and barefoot hoof trimmer with 30+ years of experience.

Class is next Saturday March 23 at 3:00pm

We had two great hoof trimming classes yesterday. We had some good questions and very enthusiastic participants - even had a mini donkey here for us to evaluate the differences between horses and donkeys. A big thank you to all who attended.

✨Amálka✨

Although the weather has been beautiful this week, we are waiting for the ‘real’ spring to begin programs. 🌹🌺🌸 In the meantime , we will introduce another horse at our sanctuary .

Amalka, 10 year old Shire mare.

After years of working in the fields, Amalka was dumped at an auction by her Amish owner when she developed a canker and could no longer work. A canker is an infection in the frog and heel. It is painful and difficult to treat, but rarely fatal.

Veronika and I were at the auction night. We were there to buy stable supplies, so we were not prepared to buy a horse. We watched her go through the ring and be purchased by a kill buyer. We couldn’t stop thinking about her, so two days later, we tracked down the kill buyer and picked her up just days before she was to be shipped.

As we suspected, her canker has been rough. Amalka has been to several vets- and we have paid thousands of dollars for her care. But as long as she has a good quality of life, we will stick with her. Now Amalka is home and under
our care.

If you are interested in sponsoring Amalka, her monthly expenses are $150.

⭐️ Sponsors are welcome to come to the farm to visit . ⭐️

Hi Everyone. Unfortunately, arena conditions have suffered from the freeze and hard rains.

I must cancel all lessons until March 15. I need time to work on my arena and prepare for the good weather this spring. As well as prepare new lesson horses for the program. Dixie, Spirit, Mirada, Karmen, Bella, and Pocahontas are in training (and tune up) now to be ready for you in March.

I feel bad taking this break, but I feel equally bad about scheduling lessons week after week and then canceling because of weather and conditions.

It’s rough without an indoor.

I look forward to seeing you all in March. And I welcome all new students.

✨ Spirit ✨

Hello Friends. We have everything in place to begin our foster family farm visits and birthday parties. We are just waiting for the weather to be appropriate for outdoor activities.

In the meantime, I will introduce you to our horses - one every weekend.

This is Spirit, an 8 old, 13.1h American Paint pony gelding. Spirit was given to us by Whitney, one of my farrier customers. Whitney was at a small animal auction (no horses) when she saw someone drop Spirit off into a stall and drive away. Spirit was friendly, so Whitney and her daughter visited him throughout the day. By the end of the auction, everyone had gone.. Spirit was still there. Whitney asked the auction staff about Spirit. They told her that someone was supposed to come get him but didn’t show up. He said someone needs to take him because he can’t stay here. After we close, there’s no one here all week. So Whitney brought him home. They kept him for a while as a pet. But Spirit was green under saddle so they couldn’t really ride him. Whitney donated him to us so that he would receive the education that he deserves.

Spirit is a joy to work with. He is good natured and he tries hard to learn what I am asking of him. It’s remarkable that Spirit is so kind, as his body bears the scars of hard times. His poor tongue is cut nearly in half. Spirit is currently still in training. We look forward to what he will become. ✨🐴

You can help Spirit by sponsoring him. $80 per month pays for his feed and hay. We welcome any amount, no matter how small.

I will still be teaching lessons, trimming, and training horses at Tennessee Moravian Farms… Pony Tales Club (our non profit) is a side project (in my free time 🤠) so don’t worry about that! This is just an opportunity to share horses with children who need them. 🥰🐴 In fact, we have another exciting announcement to make in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned… 🤠

✨ OUR BIG ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

🐴🥰❤️🎉🌷🌺🥀🥰🐴

Tennessee Moravian Farms is excited to announce the launch of our new 501 C3
non profit -

Pony Tales Club

As a professional trainer and farrier who specializes in older, challenging, down on their luck horses, I have been rescuing and rehabbing horses my entire life. I have transformed hundreds of at risk horses into well trained, valuable show horses, lesson horses, and beloved family members.

Now, with the help of our horse loving board of directors, it is our pleasure to take it to the next level with Pony Tales Club.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and educate horses who are abandoned, abused, or at risk of slaughter. Then to connect those horses with children and teens in the foster care system. We believe that these children will greatly benefit from interacting with these horses and ponies and learning the stories of these animals who have suffered and survived many of the same traumas that they have.

The second goal of Pony Tales Club is to provide free of charge cowboy and unicorn princess birthday parties for children in foster care. Many of these children have never had a special birthday celebration and we want to celebrate them.

And our third program is to have a monthly open farm day for members of our local community to meet our horses and ponies for pony rides and a walk with us around our wooded nature trails. This is open for all members of the community to come visit with us and enjoy horses and nature.

Children of all ages benefit from outdoor time with animals and nature. We want share our farm all of you.

If you wish to make a tax deductible donation to help support our mission, our Pony Tales Club 501 C3 non profit PayPal is Tennessee Moravian Farms. Or we can accept Venmo through our personal account and we will transfer it over. Venmo does not do business/non profits.

Hello friends! We are back home from the Czech Republic. We had a great time visiting with family and friends, and now happily home and back to work. 🤠🐴 If i haven’t gotten back with you, please text or call again. I am rushing to catch up.

One of the highlights of our trip was the opportunity to tour some horse farms. Being a horse geek, I am always interested in how horses are fed and maintained in different places. Our friend Míša, took us to the barn where she rides her Norik horse, Ramona. This was a treat because I have never seen a Norik horse in real- they are an Austrian draft horse. And Ramona is a beautiful representative.

Míša told us about the great work they are doing at DORADO, an equine therapy program.

Then we went to the the pasture boarding farm where Míša keeps her yearling. We shared knowledge and worked together with Marley, and we watched a lovely natural horsemanship performance from Mája, Misa’s young daughter and Herbert, little black pony.

Horses all were happy and well cared for - and their hay feeding station is genius.

Great times connecting with horse people! 🐴
