OPERATION WINTER STORM SLEEPOVER IS IN FULL EFFECT! After sending out a plea to our amazing volunteers and fosters, we successfully placed 30 dogs in homes for "sleepovers" while we are closed during the approaching winter storm. You heard that right - 30 DOGS! Check out this video of our empty kennels and our dogs leaving for a fun weekend with kind people.
We are truly blessed to have the best friends a shelter could ever ask for. Such amazing support! These dogs get to be spoiled and loved in homes where they can get a break from kennel life. Don't worry, our remaining pets at the shelter will also get some extra TLC.
We cannot thank these foster homes enough! Also thanks to our staff that worked so hard this morning to make this happen. And of course we are grateful to all staff braving the weather to provide essential services.

Miller is about 10 years old, and he was very frightened and a little underweight when he first arrived at the shelter. But it was clear that he was a sweet little senior guy that just needed TLC and time. These days - he's doing so well as he waits for his forever home. He's had some trouble adjusting to men, but he's making great progress with that as well! Someone captured this video of Miller happily accepting treats from a kind gentleman, and this is not the only time (recently) that Miller has decided that interacting with a man is OK. To all the volunteers and staff members that convince the kind men in their lives to pop by and patiently show Miller that any kind of human can be cool (especially with treats) - we thank you! To Miller - keep being a good boy...we know your forever family is out there waiting to find you and spoil you. 🥰😍

Doge!
"Yesterday was one of my favorite dog day out experiences as I got to hang out with Doge! We spent a fantastic afternoon together at Blue Dog Farm. We began with a walk around the grounds, where Doge was fantastic on the leash, staying close by my side sniffing all the new smells. After our walk, we were invited to enjoy the dog park. There, I watched Doge show so much excitement and happiness as he ran free around the grounds. He loved chasing balls and exploring the area, but what thrilled him most was meeting two Pyrenees dogs and the alpacas. Doge was so happy as he ran up and down the farm's paths, with the dogs and alpacas playfully following him.
We ended our day with another stroll around the grounds, including their labyrinth path. During this walk, Doge was calm and seemed to savor every moment. As a treat for his great behavior, he received a bone from one of the farm's owners before we prepared to head home. Doge hopped into the car like a gentle boy, enjoying the ride while looking out the window and sneaking in some requests for TLC.
Doge is a wonderful adventure companion who would thrive with someone/a family who can help him expend his beautiful young pup energy with walks, runs and lots of love. Thank you to Melissa for suggesting this outing and to Blue Dog Farm for welcoming us!"

Sweet Loki
Poor little Loki is nervous at the shelter and he obviously has some skin issues - but he's receiving excellent care from medical staff. He needs a loving home - you can see in this video that he's MUCH happier in a real home. Check out these insights from his friends:
"Loki initially was a very shy boy. Upon meeting him, he definitely needs a little time to feel comfortable, but as soon as he does he just lights up! He's very sweet and loves a good cuddle and pet. He was very good about only using the bathroom outside and good with my several roommates after slow and calm introductions. Overall, Loki is very very sweet and just a bit nervous, so he needs a little extra time, but it is very worth it to give him that extra time so you can get his inner cuddle bug!"
