Sunflowers and it's almost Halloween?!?!?

This has been a toasty October, last year we had a very hard freeze early on. We gamble every year squeezing in a last crop, and this year was a winner!

🥬 Join us Saturday 10/26 for the last shop at the farm before we close temporarily.

🥬 10am to 1pm.

We are taking this temporary break while we move into our first home. The Chapin garden plot will still be our primary operation, but we will have a "satellite" spot at our new place in Columbia.

We've had a lot of confused and concerned folks reaching our after announcing our temporary hiatus.

🥬 We live in an RV on family land, where we farm. After 4 years of tiny living it was time to find a proper home.

🥬 The Chapin garden will still be active, but we will also be getting established in our new community. ( South of the USC football stadium ish area)

🥬 This is great for us and only means Eaddy Acres will be expanding. In our new home we will focus on high value crops that need more attention, while still using Chapin to grow bulk flowers.

So cheers to being first time homeowners 🎉🎉

The farm stand will be open one last time before we take a hiatus until Thanksgiving...

Saturday 10/26 will be our last opening after weeks of low visitation. Eaddy Acres operations will be changing because we bought our first house. We will still have access to the Chapin garden plot, but folks who live in downtown Columbia will be seeing more of us that direction 😉

Over time you can expect to see less of us in Chapin while we establish ourselves at our first home in Columbia. We will still be growing high volumes of crops in Chapin, but taking them with us to get situated in a new market.

It wasn't an easy decision, but having a property that we own is more important. Also visitors to shop at the farm have dramatically decreased. It's time to pivot our operations and own our own home.

So follow along for our next big adventure ✌️

We can't get enough mustard greens! Cooking them doesn't have to be a long process to stew them down and cook all day.

1) Roll multiple leaves together and then slice into 1 inch ribbons.
2) Sautee onions and add greens once onions are translucent.
3) Keep going until your greens have cooked down and become soft.

We love high fiber and vitamin packed foods!

We're downsizing some farm equipment because it's time for Eaddy Acres to buy a house! We love this work truck but we don't have the space or time to invest in this (also need funds for our first house)

We're heartbroken to share that our collard greens crop was lost due to a seed labeling error from the supplier—we ended up growing turnips instead.

This has been a huge hit to our expected revenue, and it’s tough for a small farm like ours to bounce back. We appreciate your support during this difficult time and will do our best to make the most of the turnips we didn’t plan for. So if you enjoy turnip greens, we will be your new supplier.💔 "

There is no shop at the farm this Saturday the 28th. We really were lucky with the outcomes, large trees down but no damage in their wake. We have a lot of cleanup ahead of us this weekend and there is no power but it really could be worse.

🥬 The field is absolutely swamped and after such heavy sustained winds we aren't sure what will bounce back.

🌻 We really need community support to continue to recover after the tropical storm damage to the field. This has entirely messed up our late summer season, which should have been our most successful.

🌻 For flower subscribers it is very important that you come visit soon, because sunflower season is dwindling fast.

🥬 The first mustard greens of the year are ready. We will have fresh cut baby greens ready to go.
🌻 Sunflowers are almost ready, but we have SO many zinnias.

After the most challenging summer yet working around weather extremes, we are hoping to jump into the fall season running. Year 4 started with record sales, huge harvests and a lot of optimism. Then going from over 40 days without measurable rain, to getting almost 10 inches in a few days changed our year.

Long Story short, please continue shopping local. 🥬🌻🥬🌻🥬

After around 8 inches of rain in one week, most of our vegetable plants are toast. Squash plants sitting in standing water isn't the best for them, so our plans for a huge last round of summer produce may be squashed 🤷‍♀️

Thankful this is the worst of the storm damage, but this has put us weeks behind in our planting schedule. Expect farm stand hours and offerings to be sparse in the interim while we rebuild our planting schedule.

What has been our best year yet farming went from no rain in 40 days to a week worth of soaking rain. We're trying to stay optimistic for the cool weather produce as soon as the field isn't a mud puddle.

I know it's still toasty outside but we are dreaming of cool weather and all of the crisp produce fall brings. If you are a radish lover, we will have you covered. We grow SO many of them in the fall and spring and miss them during summer.

Our favorite are French breakfast radishes, they are not spicy like the red globes you find in the big box stores. They add a great crunch to salads or you can roast them as a low carb potato substitution.

Be sure to come visit today Wednesday the 31st to get some of our last flowers until September! 10am to 3pm.

Important farmstand information below...

We will temporarily have a gap without flowers during the month of August. This has been a tough season after going 45 days without measurable rain, and the consecutive days of extreme heat.

Wednesday July 31st will be the last chance to grab flowers until late August or early September.

We will be closed Saturday August 3rd to catch up on much needed work around the farm.
