⚠️Update 7/12/24: We have some good news! Our HVAC company was able to make a temporary “band-aid” fix to our units. A compressor is still needed for a permanent fix which should come in the next few weeks. However, they also found more issues with the dampers that will cost thousands and thousands of dollars to fix... Right now, we are just grateful that the air is back on and the building is slowly cooling off! We are still honoring $25 cat and kitten adoptions! We will be bringing in more kittens from foster homes today and tomorrow for adoption. We are grateful to everyone who has donated and adopted during this emergency! We know we can always count on our community in times of need!!❤️

URGENT‼️ URGENT‼️ A/C IS DOWN‼️
$25 ON-SITE CAT & KITTEN ADOPTIONS!
The air conditioning in our facility has broken and the part we need is on backorder for 3 weeks! With extreme temperatures in Columbia, SC, some areas of the building were 90 degrees today! The cats and kittens in our shelter are very distressed as they are confined to their kennels. Many are already overheating and open-mouth breathing! We NEED to get these cats and kittens adopted ASAP for their health and safety!!! Stress has a huge impact on a cat's health!

Until further notice, we are hosting special walk-in adoption hours for cats and kittens from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Apply to adopt at bit.ly/PLAdoptionApp or you can complete one when you visit.

If you can't adopt, please consider donating to help us get the air conditioning fixed as quickly as possible! We have installed temporary units but many areas of the building are still very warm. This unexpected expense is over $30,000!!! Donations can be made online at bit.ly/PLDonate or via Venmo .

We greatly appreciate everyone who has offered to donate fans and a/c units. However, our power sources are already at max capacity due to the temporary a/c units and the fans we already have. We have tripped several breakers already trying to plug things in. The greatest way to assist is to adopt or donate!

Our celebration of Independence Day is a scary time for most pets. We say it every year, but it bears repeating....
It is a good time to check your pets collar to make sure it has an ID tag and to make sure your microchip information is up to date. Sadly, owners forget to update that information when they get a new phone number or when they move.
