We have decided to sell RCL TALON HANCOCK aka Talon 2019 mare, don’t let her name fool you she is the sweetest mare! Been roped on outside and at brandings, started on the heel and breakaway dummy this summer. Our almost two year old daughter rides her around. This mare is an absolute joy to ride and be around. Spear L Quarter Horses

Background:
Spear L Quarter Horses is a family operation that is run by myself (Chesnie Hummermeier) and my husband Newt along with our 6 month old daughter Channis. We provide a lot of pride in the horses we make and the ones we offer for sale. Our bloodlines are very special to us because they are carried on from the bloodlines that I grew up with mostly foundation bloodlines that we are trying to add our own spin on to. Both Newt and I have rode horses our entire lives. June of 2022 Newt started a home raised 2 year old filly in a Buck Brannaman c**t starting clinic and I had the pleasure of tagging along to watch and learn it was the most amazing experience learning from one of the best horsemen’s in history, the horsemenship and the knowledge Buck gave throughout the clinc was not only inspiring but it’s something we will carry on in to our program to better ourselves and our horses. We have had the privilege of working and being around some great horsemen/women in the industry and are thankful they have helped us to where we are today.

About:
We offer a little bit of everything, from c**t starting, tune ups, starting horses on the barrel pattern or in the roping pen to, to making and finishing them out as ranch horses. We fully believe a horse needs to have a foundation outside of the arena before they ever need a career in the arena.

Outcome:
When a horse leaves our program weather it’s a c**t that was brought in to start or a finished horse they will leave with a solid foundation you can always come back to, soft and responsive that way when you start focusing them in a certain direction, the horse is already set up for success that way you’re not having to train the horse on fundamentals while also trying to train them in a discipline. Every horse we ride will be exposed to lots of miles, cattle and extensive amount of ranch work.

Horses like this are so special to our family, Channis Coralee at just 5 months old had her first ride on Talon a 4 year old filly owned by us. Young horses that have a demeanor and mind set like this filly makes our jobs easy. Talon is one of those dream horses.

Sorrely is a registered AQHA 2013 gelding. Sorrely has been rode out on the ranch and in the arena where he has done every aspect of ranch work and has a phenomenal start on the heading side. Sorrely stands to be caught and is very gentle. Has lots of cow, rate and run. He has roped and doctored hundreds of cattle outside, and as well in the branding pen. Sorrely has been entered in several jackpots but just needs to go more. Sorrely was my go to last spring when I was 25 weeks pregnant for all the branding and ranch work. I can’t say enough good things about this horse, he is truly worth his weight in gold!

The process of making a great horse does not happen overnight.

As you go through this process, there will be times when your routine gets interrupted. There will be times when you aren't getting to do as much as you want to with your horse.

Just because something gets put on the back burner temporarily doesn’t mean you have to give it up altogether. Give yourself the grace to have a day off, and pick right back up where you left off the next day. You can do it.

It’s very rare for us to buy horses so we are excited to add this 3 year old mare to our herd, she stands 16hh and is not small. 😅

Bucking Ta Fame is a granddaughter of Dash Ta Fame and on the dam side goes back to The Son Of A Buck and Preferred Pay. We plan on starting her on the barrel pattern and heading off her. She will eventually end up in the broodmare string! 😍
