We pride ourselves in doing better and learning more all the time. So, Christine is checking in with the medical experts and learning from veterinary behavior specialists today. And - as a perk - we are running into our friends from the Animal Clinic of Chardon.

We only offer this class once or twice a year and now is the time: Our Therapy Dog Prep class with Beth is coming up!

Therapy dog teams have one of the most important jobs a dog can have: bringing comfort and joy to those who really need it. And it takes a special kind of team to dedicate themselves to this cause. If you think, you and your dog are ready to take on this awesome challenge and join the rank of elite therapy dog teams, this is your moment!

Our class will start on Sunday, 3/2/25 at 3:30pm. There will be 4 sessions and the cost is $130. This class will not be offered again for several months, so now is the time!

Maybe a weird post but we are wondering if we know somebody who lives in Geauga county, walks their dog regularly (without using prong or choke collar), and uses booties for the dog during cold weather. If that is you - could you contact us? Email or message us through FB!
Thank you!

Karen Pryor passed.
The message came in yesterday and it’s burning through the dog training community.
Please spare her a thought for your dog's sake tonight. You may not know her name, but we know your dog lives a happier life because she existed.
Karen Pryor wrote the book – the original book - on using learning theory with dogs. The book that every dog trainer worth the name has read.
She was the trailblazer who developed clicker training, she is the reason why we say “yes” in our classes. In a training world ruled by misinformation, pain, and bullying, she developed a way to train with compassion, true communication, and fun for both ends of the leash. She lit the torch that so many of us have picked up since. Every time we cheer for the dog we train – or horse, or dolphin, or rat, or elephant, or octopus, or any other animal - we send HER light into the world.

We know that she will be greeted by joyful tails and sloppy kisses on the other side. A life well lived.

With rising costs, it has been getting harder and harder to keep up with the standards to which we hold ourselves. To guarantee that we can keep offering you the same level of training and care that you have come to expect, we will regrettably have to adjust our tuition starting in January 2025.

The good news?

Classes for the beginning of 2025 are scheduled and posted. You can still lock in the price for your Mind Your Manners (1 and 2), and Puppy Plus classes at this year’s rate until 12/31/24.

Don't see a class that fits your schedule or buying for somebody else and not sure which one may work, yet? No worries! Email us and we will be able to place credits at the current rate on your account to be used when you are ready.

Log into our booking portal here and use code "GRANDPA24" to reset the fee.

This is why we collect! At the very least a shelter shouldn’t have to run out of food.

Thank you, everybody, for your help. We will take the food you donated so far up there this week since it’s getting urgent. However, we will keep collecting, so keep it coming!

We get sooo many calls from clients telling us they would like to have their dog become a therapy dog and so few achieve this goal. To become a therapy dog team, dogs and handlers have to achieve a high level of training but the dog must also have just the right temperament. Too fearful or too exuberant and the goal becomes impossible to reach.
We are so impressed by these teams who rose into the elite circle of therapy dogs!

Congratulations to
Team Maggie
Team Otis
Team Gimli
Team Dove
Team Butter
Team Claire

If you are inspired by them and feel ready to take on the challenge, our next Therapy Prep Class starts Sunday, March 2nd at 3:30pm. Let us know if you would like to join!

Meanwhile, the boxes in our lobby (as well as our hearts) are filling and filling.
We will deliver the donations we collect by then right before Christmas, so keep it coming!

What a day we had!
Pictures were taken of 66 families and 90 dogs. We will send them out by email and share some here as soon as we get through them.

You all really came through and we raised an amazing $2000, a big pile of food, a bin of toys, boxes of treats, and a bag full of harnesses, collars, and leashes.
Thank you!!
Our shelter donation drive will continue until Christmas. If you missed it this weekend, stop by anytime before then to drop things off!

And a huge thank you to our team members who volunteered their time to set up, organize, and keep things running smoothly - Megan, Megan, Bini, John, and Bry.
And of course, thank you to our wonderful Santa - Mr. Brad Jenkins.

Can’t wait for next year!
