Home Visits.
We will soon be offering limited wellness home visits to DI residents. Currently, we will be offering appointments one morning a month to update wellness for those fur babies who are physically having trouble getting to the vet, or perhaps have intense anxiety with office visits and to offer more convenient care to pet parents. Depending on community needs, we consider expanding our services. Our first available wellness appointments will be on Tuesday, August 20th, with Dr. Hosking. See the flyer below for more details. House call fees do apply.

Did you hear? We are teaming up with the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG), in Mount Pleasant, to offer phone triage.
Phone triage is a conversation with a veterinary professional who can help, over the phone, determine the urgency of a medical issues and what the next steps are. We are excited for this partnership! After hours our clients will have the option to speak with staff and veterinarians at VEG to determine if an emergency room visit is needed, or if the concern can wait, when our clinic is closed.
After hours, press 1 to be forwarded to VEG and 2 for a non urgent message or call VEG at 843-879-4280 with any after hours concerns. ❤

Yesterday was Feline Leukemia Day.

Its Feline Leukemia Day. Let’s learn more about this serious and often misunderstood disease affecting our beloved cats. FeLV is a contagious virus that weakens a cat's immune system, making them more susceptible to infections and other illnesses.

What You Need to Know:

Transmission: FeLV spreads through close contact between cats, including grooming, sharing food or water bowls, and bite wounds.

Symptoms: Common signs include lethargy, weight loss, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and recurring infections. Some cats may not show symptoms immediately but can still spread the virus.

Prevention:
Vaccination: Ensure your cat is vaccinated against FeLV, especially if they go outdoors or live in multi-cat households.

Testing: Regularly test your cat for FeLV, particularly if they are exposed to other cats.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our feline companions. Let’s work towards a future where every cat can live a happy, healthy life free from Feline Leukemia.
