Dear Neighbors, before Cynthia worked at the HT, she was in our neighborhood's Food Lion. She is the sweetest person and always has a smile for everyone. Please share and help if you can.
Thank you!

Public Works has begun resurfacing some roads in the West Ashley and St. Paul’s/Hollywood area as a part of the CTC 2022 Resurfacing plan.

Some neighborhoods included in this project are West Oak Forest, Ashleyville, Maryville, Palmetto Park and Magnolia. This work will occur during the day and traffic control will be present to safely direct traffic. Please drive carefully and be aware of the people working and their equipment.
Work on this project will last through the summer. Typically, patches will be made to the road and road resurfacing will occur within a few weeks. For any questions or concerns, please contact the pavement manager at [email protected]. Hey Neighbors! Things are set in motion for the apartments/retail proposed for the old Ryans property at 829 St. Andrews Blvd. The design will be heard at the Monday June 6, 2022 meeting of the Design Review Board. This will be an in person meeting at 2 George Street, starting at 4:30pm, in the public meeting room on the first floor.

You can see the submittal package here: https://www.charleston-sc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/31992/2022-05-25_829-St-Andrews-Blvd_Preliminary-DRB-Presentation

The development has also submitted for TRC to review their transportation, stormwater, ADA, and zoning compliance. A preliminary review pertains to the review of the development of the conceptual design and its relationship to its context in terms of the project’s details, materials and finishes. This phase defines the level of quality of construction, and the relationship of the buildings’ components to surrounding buildings and to one another.

If you have comments on this project, please attend the meeting and call or email Eric Pohlman, the City's project coordinator, at (843) 509-8252 or [email protected]

I'm sorry to share this very sad news but last night, two separate neighbors' cats were killed by the same two loose dogs. The dogs were not familiar to them and as far as folks know, they do not live in the neighborhood.

I'm sending this message not to sow fear, but to give warning and hopefully prevent another tragic loss. If you see loose dogs, the number for Animal Control is 843-743-7200. It's the same as the police non-emergency number.

Please keep your pets safe.

Great news! We have approximately $850 remaining from the Coastal Community Foundation grant. We put up the new signs which cost approximately $200, but we postponed our BBQ in Backyard Park and neighborhood cleanup due to COVID. Suggestions on how to best apply these funds to improve the neighborhood so far include a socially distanced party with a food and/or ice cream truck in Backyard Park, security cameras at the intersection of Paula and Anita, and a second Little Free Library. Please let me know what you prefer via email so we can implement one or more of these ideas.
Many of our neighborly improvement suggestions pertained to Backyard Park. Please feel free to reach out directly to City Parks at 843-724-7321.
Thank you!

Dear Neighbors,

I hope that everyone is feeling well.

Please note that bulk pick up has been suspended, which includes leaf bags, appliances, big debris, and all that doesn't normally go in your green can. Green can and recycling pickup will go forward for now. Although most City offices are closed, the Citizen's Service Desk remains open and the number is 843-724-7311.

Thank you to the members of our neighborhood who work in local hospitals- you are all heroes and we hope that you stay safe and healthy!

This hasn't been shared widely, so I'm passing it along: my work office recommends that we open mail outside and dispose of the waste directly into the outdoor trash/recycling, bag and quarantine those materials that we need to keep, and then wash our hands. The virus can live on paper for at least several days, so please be careful with mail and packaging from deliveries.

If you're a small business owner in need of a loan, you can apply through the links in the message from the City of Charleston below.

Please consider any events I've announced to be cancelled, except for a possible online meeting with the Coastal Community Foundation regarding our N.E.W. grant application. If you are able to join a virtual meeting and/or are interested in helping with this, please email me.

Thank you again for all that each of you are doing to promote the health, happiness, and safety of Magnolia!

Tomorrow evening (10/25) from 5-7, Barks and Bones is happening at the Magnolia Community Garden. They will have food trucks, live music, drinks, a pet parade, and a pet costume contest- so fun!

Halloween is one week from today. I love the neighborhood decorations, especially the Walls' - way to go all out for Halloween! Kids trick or treat in our neighborhood so if you are not participating, please turn off your porch light until about 9 when it wraps up so you don't have trick or treaters knocking on your door.

On November 7, the Charleston Police Department will host their first annual Open House from 5-8 at their Lockwood Drive headquarters. They will have a DJ, fun games, free food, demonstrations, and will give away 30 bicycles, which is wonderful!
