We went a little MIA over the holidays but it’s Jan 2nd and we have high hopes for 2025 so let’s get back at it!

Comrade has been back with us since December 23rd and is in need of a foster in the Charleston SC area. He needs to get out of boarding soon as long term boarding for any dog isn’t ideal. Comrade is ok with other dogs, prefers a home with older or no kids, and can be cat tested if needed.

If you’re in the Charleston SC area and have a little
Extra space and love for a hound in need, Comrade could really use it.

Comrade Coonie was adopted from us a few months ago and is being returned. He needs a ride back to Charleston from Ormond Beach Florida (a little North of Daytona) and a foster in the Charleston SC area, or potentially a foster in the Daytona area until we can get him a foster in Charleston.

If you can help please message the page. Honestly a foster in the Daytona Area until Mid Jan would be ideal.

Comrade doesn’t like his ears touched so for this reason we ask for no young kids in the home. Other dogs are fine. He has not been cat tested that I know of.

After 135 days at Colleton County Animal Services and nearly 8 months with CCR, the perfect home came along for our precious Thatcher! The smiles say it all. He’s on his way up north with his new family which includes Georgie (CCR alumni Harry Styles). Happy life sweet boy!

Bruno the sea lion....I mean redbone... is still on the search for a forever family. How can you say no to that derpy face?

Bruno is around 5 years old, currently in a foster home with other dogs and cats and is ok with Children but would do best in a home with older kids. He's completely vetted and ready to go anywhere in the US.

Marlena is one of our newer intakes to rescue and she’s very shy. She’s got a wild side though when she lets her hair down and her extroverted foster sister Rosie is really helping her cut loose and have fun!

Marlena is around 5 years old, 40 pounds, and a hound mix of some sort. She’s 100% awesome! Because Marlena is so timid, a home with older children is probably best. She’s not aggressive in any way, we just feel like the noise and rambunctiousness of younger children may be a bit much for her on a day to day basis. Marlena definitely finds comfort in other dogs so a home with another dog is required for her and another playful dog is even better! She’s quiet so an apartment could work for her, but she is shy about pottying too so an area where she can be off leash to relieve herself is necessary.

Marlena is unfortunately heartworm positive and requires treatment which she will begin in about 6 weeks. She is available locally (Charleston SC area) as a foster to adopt through treatment. She will not be available outside of our immediate area until treatment is complete.

Our next featured pup for Giving Tuesday is sweet Janet. Janet came to us from the Colleton County shelter after being picked up as a stray and unclaimed. She was skinny, anemic and massively pregnant and it didn't take long for her to deliver 12 pups! It's been a while since we had a litter that large. She was such small girl to be harboring that many babies and not long after she ended up having some complications from mastitis which is always a concern when there are that many babies to feed and momma is producing so much milk to sustain them. Her mastitis ended in a visit with CVRC to get her healthy and feeling better again. She was a rockstar through all of it and was an amazing momma to all 12 of her babies.

Janet and all of her babies have since been placed into wonderful loving forever homes and we are honored to have been able to give her that chance and forever thankful to her absolutely amazing foster family, the Greene's, for everything they did. They went above and beyond in their care for this family of hounds and continue to be amazing fosters.

If you would like to donate to support our mission to help more hounds like Janet, Please follow the link below for info on how you can do just that. We are forever grateful for our supporters across the globe! Thank you in advance!

Our next featured doggo on this Giving Tuesday is none other than sweet Margot (Mar-go). Margot was surrendered to the Horry County Shelter back in April of this year. She had lost her ability to walk in December of 2023 and after 4 months of being paralyzed, her former family decided that dumping her in a shelter was the best course of action. We have no idea what led to her disability but Margot is one of the sweetest beagles I have ever personally met. She doesn't let the lack of use of her back legs slow her down a single bit. She's still playful and fun! She goes on daily walks on the West Ashley Greenway with her amazing foster mom, Dawn, and is a little celeb in the area!
Margot has done a few. round with the physical therapists at CVRC and has done well. While she will never regain full control of her legs again, they did feel like she was a good candidate for spinal walking. She does have the ability to control her bowels, but she requires bladder expressions 3x a day to help her urinate. we can teach a potential adopter how to do this and it's really a very simple and quick task.

Margot is still in rescue looking for her forever home. For more info and a link to her application please go to:

Chop Suey came to rescue after being picked up as a stray by Berkeley Animal Center. He was in terrible shape (1st photo) and was suffering from Demodex which is a form of mange that is thankfully non-contagious. He was also very underweight but as you can see, it didn't take long for his coat to come back and his weight to return to normal. HIs amazing foster momma, Dawn, has done a fantastic job with his care and he's on the road to recovery! Chop Suey was also heartworm positive and is actually receiving his last round of treatment today! Surprisingly this sweet, amazing guy is still looking for his forever home and now that he's completed treatment, other than 30 more days of restricted activity, he's ready to move on to his adoptive home. Will that be yours?
