Happy Hug Your Cat Day! ๐ฑ Did you know that there are scientifically proven health benefits to cat ownership?
โฃ Cat owners have a lowered risk of heart disease and stroke due to the relaxing effects felines have on their humans which minimizes stress and lowers blood pressure.
โฃ A cat's purr creates vibrations at a frequency of 20-140 HZ, and studies have shown that frequencies in the 18-35 HZ range have a positive effect on human joint mobility after injury.
โฃ If you spend 15-30 minutes a day petting or playing with your cat it can boost your mood! A result due to a rise in serotonin and a decrease in cortisol.
Showing your cat love and affection will let them know you care for them too - so give your cat extra lovin' today and give them a hug! ๐
It's #PetAppreciationWeek! ๐พ This week was created by AVMA in 1981 and encourages us to be responsible pet owners not just this week, but every day of the year! We are grateful for the pets that enrich our lives and who are always there for us. โค

Mae
Meet Mae! ๐พ
Mae is an 8.5 year old Boston Terrier that presented to Dr. Renner for a large mast cell tumor on her left elbow. Unfortunately, due to the size of the mass, surgery to remove it was not a great option for Mae due to risks of non-healing.
Testing showed that Mae had no evidence of spread of her mast cell tumor! Mae's owner along with her oncology team has decided to try and shrink her mass with medications! If effective, we can then pursue surgery to remove the rest of the disease.
Only time will tell but we are all only hoping the best for Mae! ๐
We had a blast at Dunes Veterinary Clinic in Myrtle Beach yesterday! CVRC's own Dr. Tracy hosted a lunch & learn on Triage and CPR for their team and we all learned so much! Thank you to Dr. Tracy and to Dunes for a fun-filled afternoon! ๐

Meet Croix!
Team Spotlight: Croix! โจ
Croix is a valued member of our CVRC family. Not only does she work with our Oncology team, but she plays an important part in our community outreach efforts by helping us visit schools to educate students in our area. Here is what she has to say about being a part of the CVRC team:
"My favorite part of my job is of course our patients but I also love making connections with their owners and helping them when they need us the most. My favorite activities outside of work are live music and traveling!"
Thank you for all that you do, Croix! ๐

Meet Scooby!
Donor Spotlight โจ
Meet Scooby! ๐พ
Scooby loves to play fetch and tug of war with his stuffy toys. According to his mom, he could do that all day long!
Here's a snippet from Scooby's mom about why he became a donor:
"The reason that I enrolled Scooby in the program is because my previous senior pup was a long time frequent flyer at CVRC. Due to various reasons she spent quite a bit of time over the years in the emergency department and was a patient of Dr. Welch then Dr. Clare. Both of whom we adored. After she passed and I adopted Scooby from Dorchester Paws I decided to enroll him in the program so that other pups have the opportunity for the same long and well loved life that Birdie had."
Thank you for your contribution and for helping save countless lives, Scooby!! ๐

Reagan Rae
Meet Reagan Rae! ๐พ
This sweet girl visits our Cardiology Department for regular monitoring of her degenerative valve disease. This is the most common heart disease in dogs, in which leaky valves can eventually case significant heart dilation and even congestive heart failure (fluid in the lungs).
Luckily for Reagan Rae, repeat echoes have shown that her disease is very mild and stable, so she isnโt at risk for congestive heart failure. In fact, she doesnโt even reach our threshold to start heart medications yet. We love giving out such good news! ๐ ๐
