Cerebellar Hypoplasia in Dogs
This is Duffy. He is a sweet lil pup that came in today that happens to have Cerebellar Hypoplasia and wants to share with you what that means <3
Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a disorder that causes the wobbling appearance you see in the video. This is due to the malformation of the cerebellum during fetal development. Patients with this disorder can do everything normal, they just tremor, stumble, and walk with a wide stance :) The disorder is diagnosed after birth and causes no long-term affects other than what you see here. It does not get worse, nor does it get better as there is no cure. And it doesn't mean the patient is weak - they have strength and feeling in all of their limbs and all over their body. It is not painful and Duffy will live a long and normal life, just a little off balance <3
Duffy is adorable and had fun meeting everyone today :)
