Are you interested in making a difference for animals that are homeless, abused, neglected, and in low-income homes?

The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association is seeking a full time veterinarian to join our lifesaving team! 🩺

KCHA is an established, small-animal shelter with a goal of growing our abilities. As a veterinarian on our team, you will have the opportunity to treat animals in a variety of different ways, including: spay/neuter, wellness, illness, injury, and other surgeries/procedures as needed💉

Perks of our shelter:
🐾 Mentorship with our Chief Veterinarian
🐾 Digital Radiology
🐾 Ultrasound
🐾 In-house lab (Chem analyzer, CBC)
🐾 4-5 support staff daily

We are so excited to see you and your pets on Tuesday for our F R E E microchipping clinic (sponsored by Charleston CVB, Bike City USA)!🩵

As a reminder, this event will be held at 2485 Sissonville Dr Charleston WV from 9 am to 3 pm (as supplies last)!

In anticipation of a busy event and a smaller parking lot, we have created this graphic to give you an idea of how the line will flow! We will fill up row 1 (closest to the building) first and then begin to fill up row 2 and 3.

As each row begins to empty, more cars will be added, as our team works through everyone in order of arrival time🫶🏻

Traffic controller volunteers will be present to assist in maintaining an orderly line and ensure that everyone gets care in a timely manner!

To help avoid delays, please make sure that your cat friends are in a carrier and all dogs are on a leash🦮Also limit pets per car to 3️⃣!

We are happy to be bringing free microchips to our community and hope to see you Tuesday! But if not, keep an eye on our page, as we have more in the works for you and your pet😉

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce our veterinarian, Dr. Kagney Hutson, will be leaving Fix Charleston on May 2nd to start her new position out of state.

Dr. Hutson has been with us for close to two years and has helped to bring outstanding care to numerous animals in the Kanawha Valley and beyond. We are so sad to see her go, but are excited to see what the future holds for her as well as our clinic.

With this news, we wanted to take a moment to explain how services will change here at Fix Charleston:
- We will no longer be offering weekly spay/neuter and wellness.
- We WILL, however, be hosting regular pop up wellness events and mobile spay/neuter opportunities! Keep an eye on our page for updates!

Our main focus in the foreseeable future will be to increase our high quality medical care and spay and neuter capacity for the shelter animals, which are our first priority. We also plan to increase our presence in the community for mobile vaccine clinics!

We are working our tails off to find a new veterinarian to continue to grow our live-saving mission.

In the mean time, Fix Charleston will continue to be open to provide records for all clients Monday to Friday each week. We will also continue to sell over the counter products that your pets need to keep them happy and healthy!

We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate these new times🩵We can’t wait to continue serving you to the best of our ability!

Our parking lot is currently underwater here at Fix Charleston😰

If you are scheduled for an appointment today, be cautious coming out! We are going to do our best to see patients, however we will keep everyone updated on the water situation. Keep an eye on our page for cancellations and important changes!

BREAKING: we are almost underwater 😭

The main kennels are safe, but our overflow kennels are concerning. The water is touching our overflow space, where we have 13 dogs 😭

And more rain is on the way 💔

We DESPERATELY need adopters and fosters today. Our goal is to move 15 dogs out to be able to clear out the area that's starting to take on water.

Our team is rushing in - our executive director and an amazing volunteer got in at 6:30 to make sure the animals were safe for right now while we made a plan.

We'll have our staff ready to go at noon to process fosters and adopters!! $14 for dogs and puppies, fostering is free and we'll give you supplies ❤️

8am update - we're gathering supplies for sending dogs to foster. If you have a leash please bring it with you when you come up! We are in short supply on them!

11AM: You all are amazing! We are already seeing fosters come to help and sponsor pets for adoption 🥹

NEARLY EVERY AVAILABLE DOG IS NOW SPONSORED!! We're at 114/119 available dogs fully covered - including puppies!!

If you'd like to sponsor a pet for $14, you can do that on this form: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/adoptionfeesponsorships
