☀️SHAVE DOWN SEASON☀️ It’s the time of year when clients want shorter haircuts or we book clients we haven’t seen all winter. Where have you been?!🤔 This is the time of year when we see the most matted pets because they have skipped regular appointments during the colder months to keep their pets longer. Which we totally understand wanting longer haircuts in the winter! However dogs that require grooming still need to be on a maintenance schedule during cooler months to avoid matting. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a haircut appointment, but could be a regular professional bath or a mini groom service! As a rule of thumb, the longer the coat is the more frequently the coat should be maintained either by a professional or at home if you are able to do it correctly! Everyone loves a dog with table manners! It’s such a chill experience for both dog and groomer when everyone is just relaxed. 😌 It is a groomers job to teach and train dogs how to behave while in their care during grooming. This is why regular appointments are very important, especially during the puppy years. Many of my pup clients know key words like table, tub, turn, and sit. This is because I use the same terminology everytime I need a task done. This is all in good fun but let’s be honest we have all gotten hand drawn diagrams or overly specific notes from clients 😅 Some are very helpful and some leave us scratching our heads. 🤔 While I do agree it’s always important to describe and communicate with your groomer what you would like style wise or what your dog’s favorite features are, it’s also important to remember don’t go overboard! We are professionals after all and yes we will remember to do the nails! 🤭 As groomers it is our job to communicate with clients to better understand what they want. Not sure what a client means? Ask them to get more specific! Never assume a client understands the terminology they are using.
