Proof that a simple, good brush-out (with the right tools) can work magic even without a bath ✨🐾

This simple routine can be done at home and takes only 10-15 minutes of your time!

I used a combo of:
rubber curry
short-pinned slicker
deshedding comb

(Swipe right to see what tools)

Don’t forget that conditioning spray for extra glide and shine! 💫

Healthy coat = happy pup 💛

☀️Summer Mode: Activated!☀️

Summer has officially arrived in the Carolinas, and with rising temperatures, we’re shifting into summer mode to ensure the comfort and safety of both your pets and our team. Here’s what you can expect during the hotter months:

⏰ Earlier Appointment Windows: Groomers may begin their routes earlier in the day to avoid peak afternoon heat. This means they may arrive at the earlier end of your provided ETA window.

🦮 Be Prompt and Prepared: If you’re not using a latch key option, please have your pet ready and be available to bring them out to the groomer. Likewise, be prepared to receive your pet as soon as their grooming is complete. This helps minimize the time your pet and groomer are outside in the summer heat.

🍳Morning Scheduling for Large Dogs or Low-Shade Homes: To maintain safe temperatures inside our vans—especially when using dryers, which generate heat—larger pets and homes with limited shade will be prioritized for morning appointments whenever possible. This policy applies without exception.

While our vans 🚐 are fully insulated and equipped with powerful AC units, these scheduling adjustments help us maintain a safe, comfortable environment for all.

We look forward to keeping your pets looking and feeling their best this summer! 😎

Here’s a little back story about Fred

Not long ago a video circulated around the grooming community that raised some eyebrows. The video showed a dog (Fred) being dried that was very distressed while also wearing a muzzle. It was titled “why groomers are refusing to groom doodles” and Fred was labeled as an aggressive dog. (We don’t refuse doodles and actual love our doodle clients)

His owners ended up reaching out to us and we booked him not knowing at the time he was the dog from that video. We did end up putting two and two together. After meeting Fred we realized immediately he was definitely not aggressive but a submissive and fearful pet. We also found out he was EXTREMELY food motivated and used that as a tool to encourage positive behavior and positive reassociated with grooming. We have never needed to use a muzzle and he has made such incredible progress.

How we were able to make such quick progress?
Fred maintains a two week schedule with the same groomer every time. This helps him build a trusting relationship with his groomer, and also helps build his confidence. We work within his comfort level. We utilize things he already has positive associations with during grooming (like food). This rewires how the brain perceives an experience.

It’s important that we as professionals understand dog behavior as well as using proper training methods or resources to help dogs learn to love the grooming process. The get them done mentality is outdated and we need to stop doing this to animals and use empathy and compassion when work WITH them.
