My mom passed in February. Beginning in 2021, she started losing weight and had digestive issues, but nothing specific. In 2023, she was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. Once diagnosed, her life was extended with chemotherapy and surgery.

Walking beside her for the last two years of her journey was an honor. Thankfully, I could make several trips to visit her in Arizona, and we grew closer. She passed in her home with my sister, her friends, one of her trusted caregivers, and me by her side. While in Arizona, my sisiter and I were surrounded by our new family of Mom’s friends and caregivers.

Happy 12th birthday Penny! This year, we are learning about grace as we age. She lost her vision and most of her teeth. She had a hematoma in her ear and her arthritis has gotten worse. Every day is still an adventure for her!

She has a permanent party ear and blep! After working with to improve our communication using touch and to improve her strength, Penny is back to living her best life at a slightly slower pace.
