Teaching a puppy or dog at any age to love their kennel is so important. Not only for home use, but also if they ever have to be kenneled in the vet office, groomers, during travel and more! We want our dogs to know and feel the comfort of having their own den. This is their bedroom they can go to when they want alone time and rest.
It is a great house training tool and helps make sure your puppy is safe from getting into things that could be harmful to them when you can’t have your full attention on them.
A kennel is also an excellent tool to work on impulse control and boundaries. Just because a open door is open, doesn’t mean you should go through it is a safety skill all dogs should be taught. If someone leaves a front door open or the contractor leaves the gate to the backyard open, we want our dogs to stay safe and know they shouldn’t exit without permission.
