November is Alzheimer awareness month. It is important for us to bring awareness to the different forms of dementia that our families and friend both human and animal struggle with everyday. Dementia is a scary disease that affects both the patient and the family. Remember patience and understanding are two key elements in helping a loved one that suffers from dementia.

It was brought to our attention that for the past six months a couple of people have been using a social media platform to spread false and hateful information about South Metro Animal EMS. They have also called and harassed our members, using racial slurs and cussing. We have investigated these posts and emails as well as the harassing calls to our agency.

We want to make clear that the statements made on nextdoor and other sites are not based on facts rather they are racially motivated attacks against a black owned and operated business.

We are making this public to bring awareness to these unacceptable acts. South Metro Animal EMS & Rescue has always been and will continue to help the pets, people, animal hospitals, and animal control in our community regardless of race, gender, religion or creed.

Be a responsible pet owner and don’t put your pet at risk of being
harmed.

1. Never leave your pets in the car unattended.
2. Never drive with your dog in your lap.
3. Don’t let your dog hang out of the window. The lower your windows are the more dangerous it is for your pet.
4. Use a pet seat belt for your dog and secure all kennels to prevent them from rolling over.

Did you know that for the month of August, every time a client uses our services we donate a bag of dog or cat food to a shelter, rescue or a family in need? Animal EMS is dedicated to serving and giving back to our community.

We want to give a special shout out to the Charlotte Fire Dept and CMPD!!!! Late Saturday evening we were dispatched to Clark Blvd for a house fire. Upon arriving we were informed that there was a bearded dragon and a feline both trapped within burning home. The Charlotte Fire searched the home multiple times until they were able to rescue both pets from the home. The animals were brought to our Petmedic who with the help of CMPD officers provided Oxygen and Rehab for the pets. We also want to recognize the Mecklenburg Medic Agency who offered to help with providing oxygen. You all are heroes and deserve so much respect and thanks!!!!!!

Dear current and future clients.
To help better serve the community all of our vehicles are now equipped with microchip scanners. With our new microchip scanners we are able to better help reunite lost pets with their owners!
