Learned something new today. Dairy is a no-go for hedgies. All mammal pocket pets (that I know of) don't really tolerate dairy super well, but I didn't know it could be downright deadly for hedgies.

Today was amazing. With the generous aid of Fairytale Farm Rescue & Sanctuary , I had the privilege to donate a heaping load of veg & pellets to Guinea Pig Rescue of Asheville and Asheville Bouncing Bunny Rescue. GPRA even donated a whole bale of hay to ABBR! I love when rescues support each other.

The cherry on top was having the honor of making a vegan meal for the LOVELY folks at Sister Kitten , who have a pet supply distribution center set up in west Asheville to help residents with dog, cat, and other needs from food to litter to brushes and collars. Sister Kitten specializes in caring for community cats, TNR, and rescuing/rehabilitating feral kittens.


It completely brightened my day to see folks so excited simply to have things we take so easily for granted, like FRESH produce and REAL meals. To all of the animal heroes I met and corresponded with today, THANK YOU for the tireless and selfless work you do. You are appreciated!

If you buy corn and shuck it yourself please consider saving it and donating it to your local Guinea pig rescue they loveeeee it all even the silk , it is very high in fiber and helps file down their teeth ♥️😃

Guys, let's please give a HUGE shout out to Fairytale Farm Rescue & Sanctuary. They have been rallying with others to help the animal community in west NC and are GRACIOUSLY sharing some of their donations received! This money will be covering food and a cooler for Guinea pig rescue of Spartanburg. 🥹

**Hurricane Helene ⛈️ - support 🙏**

Located in Northwest SC, our Rescue Advantage Team member Guinea pig rescue of Spartanburg and their surrounding area have been affected by Helene. I have been in communication through spotty cell and internet service.

Thankfully, they have not fallen victim to any structural damage and do have running water. However, they've been without power, and it is predicted it will remain so until at least Friday.

Local grocery stores are tapped (some even without power themselves) and the piggies are out of veg. Gas stations are low as well, preventing travel. I am located less than 2 hours away and would like to bring fresh veg. They also need an ice chest and ice to store the veg in until they regain power (hopefully Friday!).
