Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies

Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies is a pet sitting service that provides personal care for your dog. I started Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies after my two dogs passed away.
(1)

We provide walks, training, care for your dog at our home or yours, and we offer minimal grooming service. I wanted to be able to help other pet parents who needed a trustworthy dog sitter who would treat their fur baby/babies the same as they would.

‘EMBER PUP TIP

Greetings Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies Family! Our Fall Season is steadily upon us, and we are in the months that end with “ember.” We normally try to post our “Pup Tips” at the beginning of each month; however, we are having some busy times so we are going to post this one tip to cover the “ember” months for the rest of the year.

This Pup-Tip is a two part tip. First, we want to talk about bladder health. Once dogs get through the puppy phase and become potty trained, they can stretch their bladder muscles quite well. But it’s not healthy for them to hold their urine for long periods of time. Dogs are prone to urological issues just like humans, and can develop kidney stones and bladder infections too.

You should definitely take your dog out on a routine schedule daily, making sure the frequency of how many times you are letting them out goes along with their size. Smaller dogs will obviously need to go out more frequently than larger dogs. But no matter the size of your fur baby, you should always try to let them out at least every 6-8 hours, which is at least 3 times a day. You don’t want to torture your fur baby by making them hold it over eight hours. This is when they can develop urological issues that can be very dangerous to their overall health. So it’s important to get them on a routine schedule daily and if you’re not available to let them out, that’s what we’re here for so just let us know when you will need drop-in visits.

Now the other Pup-Tip is about healthy eating habits for your fur pals. With the Holidays right around the corner, we will all be indulging in some of our favorite foods. We also want our fur friends on four paws to enjoy some delicious treats as well.

Just remember that giving them a little extra here or there throughout the Holiday Festivities is certainly alright, but moderation is still key. Some people feel like their dog(s) should be getting the same dietary supplemental nutrients as humans. But dogs have very different nutritional needs than humans.

Giving them certain fruits like apples and bananas are a nice treat, but not to be given daily. Bananas are high in potassium and sugar, which is not something to give your fur baby daily. And if you’re indulging in baked goods like blueberry muffins and want to share with your fur baby, give them blueberries only. The sugar and gluten in baked goods can irritate their digestive tract and cause them to have upset stomach. Instead give them just plain blueberries which are rich in antioxidants.

Some people also want to cook meals for their dogs thinking that it is healthier. But this can often lead to dogs missing out on key nutrients that are only found in certain dog foods. There are plenty of healthy dog foods in the dry and wet options, including Blue Buffalo and The Farmer’s Dog. Just make sure you do your research on a particular brand before you purchase it to make sure it fits your fur baby’s dietary needs.

In closing let’s recap our Pup-Tips. Remember to get your dog on a routine potty schedule that is giving them at the minimum three potty breaks daily. But it’s also important to pay attention to your dog; if you see them constantly going to the door where they go outside to potty and looking at you, then they are probably trying to let you know that they need to go outside for a break.

Also make sure that you find a dog food brand that covers your dog’s nutritional needs. Remember that it’s fine to give your fur baby treats and extra indulgences over the Holidays, but moderation is still important. You want to make sure that their digestive system stays healthy as possible.

We hope that our entire Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies Pack will have a happy, healthy and safe holiday season. We will be back with more Pup-Tips in January of 2025!

When Archie arrived to Doggy Daycare he had a special friend to play with. When he met Rigsby they became fast friends and started playing and chasing each other around. Archie was so excited to have someone to play and hangout with at daycare. They both barely took a break from playing together, at one point they did rest and take a 10 minute nap and then it was back to playing. When it was time for Archie to go home, Rigsby watched from the front door as Archie left to go home with his dad. I’m sure Rigsby will be keeping in touch with Archie now that they became such good buddies, ❤️🐾

Rigsby got a special surprise when he came to stay at the BBB house, we had a special bed for him to sleep on while he was here to help him stay comfortable and keep his joints from hurting. He loved it and wouldn’t get off of it unless he had to. We are so glad to see that he enjoyed it.

This past weekend this smiling happy-go-lucky guy came to stay at the BBB house. Big Riggs had a great time hanging out and getting to relax and watch TV with us. He even got his favorite peanut butter treats for being such a good boy. We loved having him come and stay. He is such a sweetheart, gentle, and loving ❤️. We love it when he comes and hate to see him go home; but we know his little brother would miss him too much if we didn’t bring him back home.

Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies are saddened by the news of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office news of Deputy Drifter’s passing. Today the Sheriff’s Office had to make the hardest decision to put Deputy Drifter to sleep due to an aggressive form of cancer. He was loved by so many in the Sheriff’s Office and the community for his work as a therapy K-9. Deputy Drifter was es**rted by police es**rt to the crematorium as a salute for his service in Sheriff’s Department.

RIP Deputy Drifter ❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾

Forgot to post pictures of the BBB Doggy Daycare’s star pupil. So I thought it was better late than never to post them now before I forget. As you can see Archie starts his day waiting by the door to get picked up for Daycare. Once he arrives he goes to get his special attention from Mekka, then he plays with his toys for a little bit before needing to take a nap. After he took his nap he was ready to play outside and enjoy the sunshine. Once he came back inside he wanted to snuggle on the couch and get his head, back, and belly rubbed while he watched TV. When the day was over he sat on the loveseat and watched for his dad to pull up to take him home.

We have definitely enjoyed getting to spend time with Miss Luna. She has been a joy to have here at the BBB House and we hope that she will come back again soon to visit. Until then we are going to enjoy the time we have left with her until her family comes to pick her up. So we are going to get in all the Luna kisses and hugs that we can, ❤️

Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies would like to introduce you to a new snout. This is Luna or as we nicknamed her Lunar Luna; because she is most certainly a star.

This is how Mekka spends her day when Archie doesn’t come to doggy daycare… she’s so sad without her star PUPil, lol 😂
