Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies is a pet sitting service that provides personal care for your dog. I started Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies after my two dogs passed away.

We provide walks, training, care for your dog at our home or yours, and we offer minimal grooming service. I wanted to be able to help other pet parents who needed a trustworthy dog sitter who would treat their fur baby/babies the same as they would.

Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies would like to wish this special guy, Archie the Great and his brother Loki a Happy 2nd Birthday 🎂🎁🎈🎉🦴. Archie started his birthday celebration by going to Dunkin Donuts and getting a special birthday Pup Cup. Once he arrived to Doggy Daycare he enjoyed his pup cup, making sure he got every last bit of it. He then took a birthday nap after the pup cup made him sleepy. After his nap he enjoyed plenty of butt scratches, head and belly rubs, and watching his favorite shows on TV. He was then treated to some delicious frozen yogurt and banana treats as well as a tasty baked dog treat from a dog bakery in Colorado. We have enjoyed celebrating your birthday with you Archie!! We hope that we made your special day as special as you are!

JANUARY PUP-TIP

We are excited to start a new year with our Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies Family! We hope you all enjoyed spending the holidays together with family, friends, and last but certainly not least- your precious fur-babies.

The month of January is always about starting off fresh, making resolutions, and forging new beginnings. In order to do these things we must have a clear mental foundation. When we think about mental health we only think about human beings; however, dogs’ mental health is just as important as humans.

Believe it or not, dogs have emotions just like humans. They get happy and excited when they see you come home after a long day apart. But they also get lonely and sad when they are put into certain situations, such as being separated from their loved ones for long periods of time. It’s very important to make sure their sadness doesn’t turn into a state of depression or make them become anxious. Below are some helpful tips to keep your dog’s mental state strong, stable, and healthy.

EXERCISE
Just like staying active keeps humans mental health on track, exercise is vital for your dog’s physical and mental health as well. Exercise boosts mood and releases important endorphins that help keep both humans and K-9’s healthy. Even if the weather conditions don’t allow for outdoor activity, at least thirty minutes of indoor activity daily is just as effective as walking and running outdoors. And this thirty minutes doesn’t have to be done at one time. Feel free to break it up throughout the day according to your schedule.

TOYS
Make sure when you’re buying toys for your dogs that you include toys that provide mental stimulation. There are puzzle toys, hide treat toys, and intelligence games (hiding treats around the house and having them find them). Find toys and games that will help keep your fur-baby mentally stimulated.

MUSIC/TELEVISION
On days when you will be gone for long periods of time leaving the tv on or music playing can help keep your dog entertained. Hearing the sounds from the tv or music device can help dogs feel like they’re not alone and help decrease their loneliness, stress, and anxiety. We recommend animated cartoons, because the 2-3D images keeps their attention longer.

DAYCARE
Some dogs just simply can’t stand to be alone and struggle with separation anxiety. This can cause them to become destructive with toys or even household objects. If this is your dog’s behavior then we recommend putting them in doggy daycare on days you can’t be home with them all day. They can get the mental/physical support and stimulation from trusted care providers, plus you can have peace of mind knowing they are in a safe environment and your home will be intact when you return.

PHYSICAL TOUCH
Spending time with your fur-baby is the most rewarding benefit for both you and your dog. Dogs crave attention and physical affection shows them that you care. That’s why as soon as you rub your dog they immediately want to reward you with licking, which is their way of letting you know they love you. And when they give you their paw or paw you in a scratching motion, they are letting you know that they trust you.

Just remember to keep a close check on your dog’s mental health just as you do with their physical health. Since they can’t verbally communicate to let us know how they are feeling, it is vital that we pay attention to their behaviors. Mental wellbeing is optimal for dogs overall health.

Mekka got a surprise for her birthday. Her little dude Blaze came and surprised her with a gift. She was so happy to see him and loved the gift that he brought. She is currently spending time with him for her birthday and it’s making her birthday so special.

Archie came to Doggy Daycare today ready to party. It is Mekka’s birthday tomorrow(the 11th) so we decided to throw a party to celebrate. I’m currently taking care of this handsome fellow. Max aka Papa has been such a good boy while his family is away. I come over and he greets me at the door every time I walk in. Murphy came to stay with us for the whole holiday break and we enjoyed having her for her first time at the BBB House. She loves playing with all of her toys; but her favorite toy is a ball. She especially loves playing fetch with a tennis ball. I had to keep 3 tennis balls in my hand and throw one at a time to keep her happy. She was definitely the energizer bunny when it came to playing fetch, she never seemed to run out of energy. Can’t wait to see you again soon Murphy.

Over the holiday break Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies were very busy with a few Buddies. One of those Buddies was this little girl, Maya Papaya. BREAKING NEWS!!!!! The lovable Lamb Chop has been assaulted and maimed this morning by an assailant in the Barker’s Barkin’ Buddies Home. Defendant Archie the Great was arrested this morning and charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery. He is accused of thrashing around Lamb Chop and ripping off both of her ears. The assailant was very athletic and ran when police arrived. He was chased down by the one of the fastest K-9 police officers that the police had on duty at the time. He is due to be arraigned later this afternoon and will be out on bail following the arraignment. He has a court date July 15, 2024. We spoke to his attorney Mekka T. and she told us that he says he is innocent of this crime. He said he didn’t do it and was framed by his brother Loki. We will keep you updated on this breaking news story as it develops.

Archie the Great started coming back to Doggy Daycare yesterday and we had to get pictures of him riding in the car yesterday and today to show how excited he is when he knows he’s on his way to Daycare.

Archie the Great had a blast riding to the BBB Doggy Daycare this morning. He enjoyed looking out the window as we drove the road past all the buildings along the way. We even stopped at a red light beside a school bus full of kids on their way to school. Archie was so amazed at the Big Yellow School Bus and watched it as we continued on our way to daycare. Since the weather was mild this morning Archie got to enjoy the fresh breeze of the air blowing through his ears and in his snout with the window down. When he got to daycare he enjoyed playing with his toys and got a brand new toy to play with. Archie is one cool/sweet dude and we love having him stay with us during the day while his parents are at work. This past weekend we had a visit from a Barkin’ Buddy we hadn’t seen in a little while. Our buddy Jenny, who is not so little anymore, came to visit and stay the weekend at the BBB House. When we first started training and taking care of our girl Jenny she was just a little puppy that was into everything. Now she has grown so much and can get into anything and can literally get or reach anything that she wants to get into, 😂🤣 We had a wonderful time with our sweetheart Jenny and can’t wait for her to come back soon, ❤️❤️❤️

This is why we call him Archie the Great, he definitely lives up to the “Great” part of his name. He doesn’t even need to take a run-a-go to clear the gate. Not even our biggest and/or tallest dog’s attempt to get over our gates. Archie makes it look like it’s no problem at all and makes it a fun game.
