I'd like to address something here!

There are many others that are going to be offering DNA Testing soon, as there is another DNA Testing company out there selling kits and teaching people how to do it. So, it's inevitable that you are going to encounter more and more people doing this.

While I encourage everyone to shop around, and do what works best for you, PLEASE be wary of who you choose to DNA Test your birds. Screen how long they've been doing it for, if they are using the correct terminology, the location of where they are testing, etc.

We are closing in on one year of testing (8 months of offering it to others, have a dedicated lab building, and are working on licenses and partnerships with brands you know and love).

It's very very easy to make mistakes when DNA Testing, and get incorrect results. When you are inexperienced, you don't know that those results are incorrect, and then you tell your customers those incorrect results.

This is going to be a trend this year, and lots of people are going to be doing it. It was my hope to make this a full-time career, but at this point, I'm not sure that it will be possible anymore. So, please, choose carefully!

All three of my lavender grow outs are girls!! They are in with my hot mess molting lavender girl. The one doesn't have the best wings, but she has the double bearded gene and great everything else!!

Another question for you all!
While we specialize in DNA Testing Chickens, we can do MANY other species. We also may be moving soon! To a house with a creek on it :)

I am considering renaming our Lab to something more inclusive, and splitting off my Silkie Breeding to it's own new page.

What do you all think? If we were to do that, do any of you wonderful followers have any idea of what our new name should be? There might be a prize for the winner... 🥰

I have 5 silkie/satin chicks needing a pet coop :) locals only (Charlotte, Mi) and not my breeding. 1 silkie Mille pullet that has a slightly twisted face, 1 Mille satin boy with no issues, 1 Mille frizzle satin girl with wry neck issues, 1 silkie lavender boy with wry neck issues, and 1 silkie porcelain girl with bad wings. Pic is a couple of weeks old.

These babies are 0 doll-hairs for all!

I do still have the two Paint Silkie Hens looking for a new coop to those who are interested! Additionally, I am going to be looking for a forever coop for my Porcelain satin boy I got a bit earlier this year.

He has a poor feathering gene that will not allow his feathers on the shoulders and his back and part of his crest to fully come in. I've tried every supplement I can think of and it will not get better. As a result, he is terrified of being touched by humans (it hurts). BUT he is SO pretty, and he's really sweet and loves his girls. He's also a true bantam, so he's a little boy. He's a Lauren Taylor breed boy as well. If you are interested in him, and will keep him for the duration of his life (he's been passed around too much), please, reach out!

Would anyone possibly be able to send me fresh DNA Samples from birds that carry the blue gene? So Blue, Splash, Questionable blue/black, etc. That would be very helpful for testing purposes if you could!

Hi everyone! Would appreciate some thoughts :) We might be buying a new house, and the following garage will be mine to use however I want. Not fully sure of the size, but think it's about 20x20.

However, it's right on a creek bank, and there is dense woods (as you can sorry of see in the photo). How would you use this for Silkies? What predators would you worry about?
