Not only do we save these magnificent animals from what would be a fatal predicament we also love to educate the community on how valuable these animals are! Copperheads not only keep rodent populations in check but they also have an enzyme in their venom that is used in breast cancer treatments.

Here is a baby copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) notice the bright yellow tail! Babies like this one use this bright colored tail as a lure to capture small amphibians like frogs. These guys also love cicadas!

Some fantastic relocations and some great finds this year! We are beyond excited to ring in a new year with tons of new services for our community!

We will continue to provide reptile relocations as well as property inspections. In addition to these services we will be introducing property assessments using citizen science and our knowledge of unique habitats in the area. Our services will also now include on hand educational materials that you can reference for any future reptile encounters.

If you’re wondering what I do when there aren’t many snakes out. I spend my time indoors setting up bioactive enclosures. Bioactive enclosures are a self sustaining set up for an array of organisms including reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. If you’re interested in building your own Enclosure I’d love to help!

This young eastern rat snake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis) snuck in and hid under a fridge trying to escape the recent cold snap. As always our goal is to not only help relocate these guys from our unwanted places but to also educate people about them.

Garden netting sucks

This beautiful copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) was trapped in some garden netting. After putting up a fight she finally calmed down and cooperated I as able to get her free and take some photos. What a beautiful snake!

One of the absolute best feelings that comes with doing what I do is when someone gets over their fear of snakes. When I arrived this juvenile eastern rat snake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis) was hiding in the kitchen. After I caught the snake and explained how harmless it is everyone wanted to hold it and take pictures!

Garden netting sucks

I got a call for this skink that was stuck in a glue trap. While many people use these traps for mice and other pest they often trap everything that comes in contact with them. In this case the skink was going after some bugs that were trapped inside and ended up getting trapped himself. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for better solutions than glue traps we will be more than happy to discuss options with you.

An eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina) wanted to attempt crossing a busy road luckily I got there in time! If you need to move one of these guys out of the rod please keep them in the direction they are heading! #wildlife #easternboxturtle #turtles

Absolutely beautiful snake! Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix)

This is what a copperhead looks like

Not a copperhead! These harmless non venomous snakes are Dekays brown snakes. They prey mostly on worms and other insects. They puff up to make themselves appear larger to scare off potential predators. The worst these guys will do to you is poop on you!
