As the Founder and Director of MMFS I do not often get a day off..... I hope that happens more down the road, but when you're starting an organization and it's based out of the farm you live at there's not a lot of days off. I want to thank for allowing me to have a day fully off by working a long day at the sanctuary and helping to keep things going smoothly. My family thanks you, my inside kitties and dogs thank you, and I thank you because I got to cook a lovely vegan chili, vegan cornbread, and a wonderful salad that I got to actually prepare for my family. I am usually too tired to cook! So thank you thank you!! 💕Era

Buster, our new big pig boy, has so much energy! We recently moved him into a sweet new pad where he has access to an outdoor run. It’s impossible to get a photo that isn’t blurry because he’s so busy running in and out!

This week was cutie pie Harriet’s intake anniversary! Harriet is a Kune Kune pig who came from a home where she was very loved but unfortunately they couldn’t provide her with the boundaries, stimulation, and piggy companionship she needed. Harriet has flourished at MMFS! She has outgrown some bad habits and found a joyful little family with her best friends Bernadette and Penelope. 🥰

We are so excited to introduce you to Grace! She is a quiet, gentle turkey who joined us a few weeks ago. Gracie was found wandering by a wonderfully kind man who worked very hard to contain her and make her safe after determining that she had no home. She is an incredibly calm lady who peacefully watched out the windows from inside her crate the whole ride to the sanctuary. She has been living in her own private chateau with fenced in yard to complete a quarantine period before we try introducing her to our other female turkey, Frankie, and see where she best fits in here. We’re still getting to know Gracie but it’s clear she is a very sweet and serene soul - and she has the most beautiful iridescent feathers!

So welcome, Gracie. We are so happy to have you here! ❤️

It’s Veganuary! is an annual event started in 2014 to encourage people to try going vegan for the month of January, and hopefully incorporate more plant based meals throughout the rest of the year. ❤️ If you are curious about vegan food but don’t know where to start, you are in luck! Today was very confusing. There was a giant white ball in space shining light all over everything and the sky was BLUE instead of solid thick grey clouds. I didn’t need longjohns under my clothes and two pairs of socks. No rain, no snow… very weird and disorienting! 😆

It’s natural to look back on New Year’s Eve, but we want to look forward for a moment and thank you for a future story you made possible for 2025. Thanks to your donations little Buddy is scheduled for his vet/neuter appointment Jan 16 and will be on his way here soon after! 🥳 We are so grateful for every dollar, every share, every kind thought and word of encouragement for Buddy! We can’t wait to meet him and watch him get to know Merrymac and our other big pig, Buster. It will be so important for both of them to have that companionship. 🥰 Thank you for taking care of this little man and for all the hard work you do! ❤️🐖❤️

Did you know that pigs wag their tails when they’re happy, just like dogs? And I just love the little curly puff of hair at the end of Piglet’s tail! 🐖 ❤️

Button isn’t sleepy, she’s just resting her eyes, okay? Don’t tell anyone she was falling asleep and using Piglet for a pillow because she was totally awake the whole time and that would be defamation.

I’m a pretty deep sleeper but I got nothing on CJ. 😆 I don’t know how she snoozes through Button, Piglet, and Lily (out of frame) all yelling for dinner.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your donations during Giving Tuesday we raised almost $2,000 which is an amazing day for us and will certainly help us pay for hay and feed as the winter. Thank you for being part of our village of support, we couldn't do what we do without you.
