Our Story
Harmony Gardens is a 1/2 acre wildlife habitat and urban homestead demonstration project of sustainability in the city. Instead of growing a lawn, Borys and dhijana created a balanced ecosystem with 3 ponds with waterfalls, an orchard, two small chicken houses with yards (currently without chickens) plus a mushroom house, multiple terraces, raised bed boxes and tables, 5 small green houses and 2 hoop houses (one 600 sq.ft., the other 80 sf.) all with water and electricity, a rain water catchment system and so much more. Much of this was built re-using, recycling and re-purposing found, scrapyard and donated materials. We produced plenty of delicious and unusual fruits, vegetables, and herbs (using organic methods) year around for ourselves and for our customers at the Atherton Market in South End. In 2016 we retired from this challenging project to move to Spain and be grandparents to our two young nietos. Here in Spain we have recreated much of our project from the US in a much smaller way to provide food for ourselves, our family and our neighbors. We are now known as Casa Harmony.
