👑 Did you know? Pets can get “hidden” dental cysts!

Sometimes a tooth never makes it all the way through the gums… and instead of just sitting quietly, it can form a dentigerous cyst (a fancy way of saying “a fluid bubble around a stuck tooth”).

💡 Why it matters:
• These cysts can grow bigger without you ever knowing.
• They can weaken the jaw bone and hurt nearby teeth.
• Most pets don’t show pain until the problem is advanced!

✨ The good news: With dental X-rays or CT scans, we can catch these cysts early and fix them before they cause trouble.

🐾 Pet Parent Tip: If you notice your dog or cat has missing teeth that never “came in,” that’s your sign to schedule a dental exam!

🌟 Meet Molly! 🌟
We’re thrilled to have Molly Eyerly joining us at CROWN for her two-week externship! 🦷🐾

Molly is a 4th-year veterinary student at Iowa State University. She grew up in southern Iowa and plans to return to the Des Moines area after graduation.

Her special passions include veterinary dentistry (our favorite! 🦷✨), as well as surgery and internal medicine. During her time here, Molly will be learning, growing, and gaining hands-on experience in all things veterinary dentistry — and we couldn’t be more excited to support her on this journey. 💙

Outside the clinic, Molly enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her sweet cats. 🐱✈️👟

Few things are as magical as the sound of pure happiness… and Chester is giving us ALL the feels today! 💜

At his 2-week postop recheck, sweet Chester “ purred the entire time while enjoying his Churu treat—louder than a little engine 🚂💨🐾

Just two weeks ago, Chester had all of his teeth extracted due to painful Stomatitis. He’s healing great for 2 weeks postop, and we’ll continue to monitor him closely as he recovers. 💕

A big thank you to the Animal Hospital of Statesville for entrusting us with this precious boy’s care. 🐱✨

🎶 He’s got the smile, he’s got the charm… he’s Billy Joel the kitten! 😻

This dashing 10-month-old heartthrob came to CROWN for evaluation of his overbite. His lower canine teeth are currently making contact with the roof of his mouth — something we’ll be helping to correct with oral surgery soon to keep him comfortable and thriving.

Isn’t he just the cutest little superstar? He’s also a professional biscuit maker!

Meet Mabel 💕

This sweet 1-year-old boxer had been dealing with “lock jaw” on her right side since she was just a pup 😢 Her jaw would occasionally get stuck open until she managed to wiggle it back in place — but lately, it had been happening multiple times a day, and it really hurt! 💔

Mabel was diagnosed with a condition called TMJ disorder (dysplasia), where the jaw joint (like a hinge) doesn’t sit quite right. In her case, her right jaw joint was a bit too loose, causing it to shift and “lock” open 😬

We were able to perform surgery to fix the issue, and just 9 days later — she’s back to her happy, wiggly self with no more jaw locking! 🐶💪

We’re so proud of Mabel and thrilled she’s feeling better! 💖👩‍⚕️👑
