Join us for Pet Palooza on April 12 at Truist Field, home of the Charlotte Knights!

For over 25 years, Pet Palooza has been a beloved tradition in the Charlotte community. This annual fundraising walk and community festival unites people and pets for a day filled with joy! Enjoy music, food, event photobooth, a variety of vendors, and activities perfect for the whole family.

Planning to join the fundraising walk? This year, the walk route will take participants around a city block in Uptown Charlotte—be sure to register in advance! We're also currently in search of vendors and sponsors.

Interested in fostering? We need your help! We placed just shy of 80 puppies into foster in January alone, and the need for help remains!

🐶 Foster animal age, size, length of foster period, and number of animals is specified prior to commitment
🐶 We send you home with all necessary supplies and handle all medical care
🐶 Foster requests are made through our private Facebook group, so you will need a Facebook profile in order to join
🐶 The typical foster period is 1-2 weeks
🐶 The foster gets first "dibs" on adoption of an animal (unless otherwise noted)

We love this update from Lolly's mom. 😍 We are so proud of these two for working together and giving each other time to become comfortable.

"Hi there! Lolly is doing wonderfully! Don’t get me wrong, we are DEFINITELY still in the decompressing phase, but I’m really proud of how far she’s come for it just coming up on a week.

She’s doing better with loud noises. The sound of a car passing by terrified her, but now she likes to stand and watch them go by, tail up! ..When she first came home, the noise her food bowl made when she went to take a bite scared her so badly, I had to put little piles on the floor for her. Now, she can’t get into that bowl fast enough!

She is 110% hound and she’s been showing little glimpses of her sassy, stubborn, quirky side. She is VERY vocal when she’s about to go for a walk and when it’s breakfast/dinner time. She can see a squirrel from a mile away and she lets everyone know..

I cannot tell you how much your ‘Just Give Me Time’ printout has helped me with her. Even though I’m not a first-time pet owner, this is my first time with this type of PTSD she has to work through. My initial reaction to some of her behaviors would’ve been the complete opposite of the right thing to do. I would’ve made it worse! Thank you for giving me these tips to educate me on the right way to handle it. I read through the printout multiple times a day to give me reassurance – it’s become my mantra Ha-Ha. ..I’m a proud fur-mamma. So, to answer your question, Lolly is thriving in her new home and I think she is starting to catch on that she is safe and can make this her happy place."

Meet Monica! This sweet five-year-old gal recently arrived at HSC from our friends at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) in Weaverville as a graduate of their program.

Monica arrived at the BRC after being evacuated from a north Texas shelter due to severe weather and flooding. She is super affectionate and loves to be with her people. She also enjoys the company of a calm dog with a similar demeanor to hers.

She is an overall relaxed gal who will love to be your WFH and movie night buddy!

🎉Over 130 animals have been placed thanks to our partnership with The Humane Society of Charlotte located in Charlotte, North Carolina🎆 The Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) was one of our top partners in strategizing and accelerating animal placements during crises—and we’re beyond grateful! Thanks to their dedication, more animals found safety and second chances. In response to Hurricane Helene, they pulled 114 dogs and cats from the ASPCA temp shelter and worked with other shelters to save more animal lives. With help from incredible organizations like HSC, we are excited to continue positively impacting every community we can. 📣 Attention parents and caregivers! Humane Society of Charlotte Summer Camp registration opens tomorrow, February 5, at 11am EST! Be sure to set your reminders, because these are camps your little ones won't want to miss. 😻

Campers will get to know the ins and outs of our Animal Resource Center, learn how to best care for cats and dogs, get crafty with enrichment, gain hands-on experience, and meet plenty of cats and dogs. It’ll be a barking good time!

"Pumpkin Spice, now Maggie (as in Maggie Valley, since she came from Asheville), is doing great! We could not love her more. While adopting our foster puppy and adding a third dog to our family wasn’t we had planned, she won our hearts from the moment we brought her home. Her human and doggie siblings love playing and cuddling with her. Although we won’t be able to foster anymore, we hope to be able to volunteer in different ways in the future."
