Unlock your dog’s potential in just 6 weeks with our Group Dog Training! These classes meet for one hour, once a week for six weeks. Group classes are intended for friendly, healthy dogs that are at least six months old. Progress through Levels One and Two, to get the full training experience with your dog.

🎉 Exciting news! HSC has been selected as a recipient of Synchrony’s Give10 grant in honor of their 10th anniversary! 🎉

This $10,000 grant will support our Spay It Forward Fund, providing low-cost spay/neuter and essential wellness services to ensure more pets receive the care they need to stay healthy and prevent overpopulation.

A huge thank you to Synchrony and the Synchrony Foundation for their generous support in helping us champion the well-being of companion animals and the people who love them. 💙🐾

Kiddos too young to volunteer but eager to make a difference for animals? Looking for a meaningful way to earn service hours? Sign up for our Student Service Day!

This monthly opportunity, open to students ages 8-15, takes place on teacher workdays and school holidays. Participants will learn about animal care, community needs, and how they can advocate for pets—all through hands-on service projects like cleaning, enrichment prep, sorting donations, and even cat socialization!

Meet Coral and Mara! These sweet gals recently arrived at HSC from our friends at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) in Weaverville as a graduate of their program.

The BRC is dedicated to providing behavioral rehabilitation for severely fearful dogs or pups that need some extra support, such as those confiscated from puppy mills and hoarding situations.

Meet Coral:
• Fun-loving, affectionate pup who LOVES playing in water. She's a blast to go on adventures with and is also down to just hang out watching movies or snuggle on the couch.
• Seeks out handling and enjoys playing with people. May still be a little shy when first meeting new people, but warms up quickly (especially with treats or other social dogs present)
• Enjoys spending time with other dogs and is very playful. She enjoys chase and high contact playing.
• Has moderate amount of energy and would likely do best in a home where she gets regular interaction and exercise.

Meet Mara:
• Very sweet and snuggly low energy lady who enjoys long walks and cuddles!
• Enjoys spending time with people and being petted. Can be shy at first, but warms up quickly, usually in the first meeting. Once she's comfy, she loves a good snuggle and is a great couch companion!
• Loves walking with dog-friends who are also on leash. She prefers to spend time with people 1:1 or with dogs who are mellow and calm.
• Settles well in a crate and has a preference for spaces that have a den-like quality to them (if, of course, there isn't a couch available).

Looking for an engaging and educational way to spend Spring Break? The Humane Society of Charlotte’s Spring Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for young animal lovers! Each day is tailored to a specific age group, offering hands-on experiences with our furry friends while learning about animal care and enrichment.

April 14 – 1st & 2nd Graders: Register here

🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily

🏆 Help us congratulate our newest Employee of the Month, Alyssa Gentile!

Alyssa is pictured here with adoptable Durian. Durian is the sweetest boy who just wants to chat and cuddle. Durian has tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), but don't let that deter you from adopting! Both can be easily managed by keeping Durian inside and by scheduling regular check ups with his vet.

Alyssa received a number of nominations for Employee of the Month, including the one below. Way to go, Alyssa! We are lucky to have you!

This affectionate boy is looking for a calm, loving home where he can be the center of attention. Benjamin will thrive in a quiet environment without children or other animals, as he prefers to have his human all to himself. He would do best in a non-dog-populated area where he can enjoy peaceful walks and plenty of quality time with his favorite person. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will shower you with love, Benjamin is the perfect match!

🌈 Dobby
Dobby is an active guy that would love an adopter to match his level of adventure and excitement for life. He's a young guy in his teenage phase of a dog's journey, so someone who is well versed and confident with training at that stage of a dog's life would be his ideal match. A dog sibling goes a long way in helping Dobby get all his zoomies out so he can lounge peacefully after, so bring any potential besties for the resties to meet him to make sure they can match Dobby's lively playstyle!

"We absolutely adore Chowder (now Archie)! He is such a sweet boy who really wants to learn. He’s actually brought a sweet, playful side out of our grumpy senior dog, which has been so great to see. He went from a shy, scared puppy to a happy, confident, outgoing pup in just a few weeks already. He can finally walk on a leash, loves meeting new dogs, playing fetch, learned how to sit. He’s still scared of strangers but with the progress he’s made thus far we’re confident we can help him overcome that too. Thank you for giving us such a light in our lives!"

How amazing is this? Our friends at Hendrick Honda hosted a donation drive for the Humane Society of Charlotte, which ended up collecting over $11,000 of food and supplies for our animals! We are blown away by their support and generosity.
