This is Cracker Jack. We get to babysit him while his family had to take a trip. He got really sick a few days before they left, and he was hospitalized for a bit. And now he’s doing better, This is a favor for a friend as he needs antibiotics and formula fed throughout the day, and the type of trip was not something that could be rescheduled.

Between Cracker Jack and myself, neither of us are very good at formula feeding, hence his face 😂 whoops

But considering we’ve “babysat” a lot of animals on and off over the years we’d like to open the doors to short and long term boarding, as we do have the space to properly quarantine, and the knowledge of most exotic animals (reptiles, birds, and mammals)

The neighbors asked if the birds were ok as it’s been quiet lately… we moved the birds to the back so they can’t hear them now.

So today we’re sitting in front of their window again, we’d hate it to be “too quiet” and make them worrry lol

To be fair, it was the macaws screaming before so they might not even notice these guys

The beauty of being a small home town rescue, I can spend one on one time with everyone. Get to know them, get an idea of what environment the animal will do best in. I treat everyone as my own personal pet, to the point I get personally offended when my husband asks if I have looked for potential homes 😅 and I most definitely have mixed emotions when someone finds a home… it’s good, but I will be sad. I’m a problem, I know. Large facilities do the same I’m sure, but I like the quality time I can give out to everyone.

With that being said, we have a handful of small birds up for adoption (cockatiel, pigeons, conure, Quaker) and some rats. Send me a message, let’s set up a time for you (and family) to come meet them, and fill out an application.

Jada has had a pretty bad limp lately so I got the vets out here

She has arthritis 😭 we need some pain management and some supplements

On the bright side, they complimented her manners, her weight, and her hooves. That means a lot to me as she is my first livestock/hooves pet, and I’ve been stressing about her weight and hooves lol. Pigs are naturally prone to obesity, you really have to watch their diet

I did take a video of her screaming during the exam, but I didn’t want to break everyone’s speakers 😅

Not all stories can have the happiest endings. Remy was surrendered since his last rat friends past away leaving him alone. My plan was to introduce him to my boys and see if we can get some more time out of him. But I realized he was too frail to be with my boys, in a large climbing cage, especially his legs didn’t work very well anymore. So I built him a cage that was going to sit next to my males so he had friends and was safe. Although I spent 4 hours building that cage, I had no idea he had already passed away. I never checked before starting to build it. He was only about 2.5 years old. Rats are known to have short life spans but I do believe he could have been around longer with a proper diet. Some folks don’t realize they are getting bamboozled at the pet stores, buying foods with rat pictures on it. That is not always an ideal diet, they primarily need lab blocks. And i give them little salads every morning as well, with treats throughout the day. Proper diets are important. I don’t say this to bash anyone, I say it to raise awareness. Pet stores are here to make money, not keep the pets healthy.

Meet buttercup. He’s been around for the last 1-2 months, I’ve been trying to convince him that humans are in fact, his friends.

He came to us when his last owner was moving and they thought surrendering was the best option, he was living with a sun conure

I’ve got them separated, and we’re working on becoming friends with humans now 😊

My family found this young lady under their porch, she was dehydrated and hungry. She was found yesterday so who knows how long she was in that heat for

My niece suggested the name screecher, my daughter says sally

But she seems young, and is doing beautifully now

Goose did not over heat, he just has a flair for the dramatic

Ferrets are sensitive to the heat. Anything over 80 and they can over heat. Keep them cool in this heat
