As many of you know, working with Rescues and Rescue Dogs was an integral part of what I was doing when I started this business in 2016. A lot of my friends on my personal page are folks that I met through rescue and I continue to have relationships with a few rescues to this day. Because of this, my newsfeed is inundated with posts of dogs that need to be adopted, as well as the vents and rants from those in rescue that are overwhelmed with the sheer number of dogs being surrendered.

Rescues have to turn dogs away because they are full and don’t have any more fosters available.

Shelters are full and euthanizing dogs daily to make space.

Volunteers are exhausted and some of them have to step away from rescue altogether just due to the mental toll it puts on them.

As I scroll though the posts I often think, How can I help?
This is a question I’ve thought about long and often.

I STRONGLY believe that training is the answer when it comes to not only getting more dogs adopted but having them stay adopted and not returned shortly after “due to no fault of their own”

I can offer the training but I am the only person in this business so I am limited to the amount of dogs that I can work with at any given time. It puts me in a real tough predicament trying to balance taking on my paying clients so that I can pay the bills, because at the end of the day this IS a business and my only means of income. BUT, being able to work with rescues and continue to work with rescue dogs is something I am extremely passionate about and take pride in doing.

This is where you come in.

What if WE could come together as a group to get more dogs more training and hopefully, in turn, more adoptions?

What if we could come together as a community to better the lives of the dogs and the potential adopters through training?

What if we could come together as a family to not only give our donation dollars or our donated services in hopes everything works out for them in the future, but also form relationships and friendships that would not only get them the training they need today, but would set us up to be a part of their life moving forward?

I have had an idea that has come and gone for the better part of a year now. Every time I think about it, I get excited about the possibilities but just as quick as the excitement comes, the doubt and fear of failure creep in and I soon find myself moving on, completely disregarding the one thought that has stirred and invigorated my passion for training so I can jump back on the treadmill of business to try find and my next client.

Well, while I am nervous and a bit insecure about proposing this idea, I think now is the time. If not now, when?

I am going to be fully transparent with you. I am not sure if this will work. I am not sure very many, if any, of you are interested, willing, or able to be a part of this.

What I want to do is build an online community for you to join where your membership will go directly to the training of a shelter/rescue dog at no cost to the rescue.

Currently, I offer discounts to rescues but with their limited funds and resources what happens is that they can only invest in training for the worst behavioral cases they have, mostly aggression and severe separation anxiety. While I applaud and appreciate their commitment and effort to helping them, the problem with that is that those level of issues do not only require a 2-4 week training program, but they also need a foster and adopter that will be committed to implementing the training in the long term.

What I envision for this training program is a way that we can offer the training to the dogs that would benefit the most from a training program but the rescues might not see as a “necessity” for a training program due to their resources be better spent on the medical cases in their rescues and the general well being of the dogs already in their care.

What I envision for us as a community is that in the future I would like to have fosters in our circle that would be able to maintain the training the dog receives. Perhaps some of you that have already been through one of my training programs with your own dog would want to foster or maybe I can build a training course for people who want to foster with emphasis on training. We will work out the best way to maintain the training moving forward but those are some of my thoughts.

In thinking about what I can offer you that may bring you value, I was thinking about a monthly Live Q&A so that I can answer any questions that you may have about your personal dogs or answer questions about the dogs in training.

I would of course be providing multiple updates about the dogs in training so that you stay informed and up to date on the progress of the dogs that you are sponsoring.

I was also thinking about a monthly meet up or pack walk with our own dogs (or without if you choose). Again, I could answer any of your training questions or I could help you with anything that you are working on with your own dogs. I would bring the sponsored training dogs so you would get to meet them in person and physically be a part of their training program.

My ultimate goal would be have future adopters also become a part of the community. To continue to bring the dogs to our monthly meet up so we can all see them and continue to be a part of their journey in the long term.

I am hoping to launch this program into full effect soon, but what I would like to do is open up enrollment to a group of you that will be my Founding Members.

As a Founding Member you will get instant access to our own Facebook group. In that group I will be bouncing my ideas of you and you will have direct input in what I can do to add as much value as possible to the community.

You will also be the group that will nominate dogs for the program. When we bring in a dog you guys will have the opportunity to choose the dogs that you would like to see get the benefit of the training and then we will put the nominees out in the community where the other members will then vote on which one(s) we end up working with. If you are affiliated with any rescues and would like to give your rescue the best shot to get your dogs in the program, being able to nominate your dogs would benefit you!!

We had the honor of attending the car show at 704Exoticauto today! Muffin, who is 1 week into his 2 week Board and Train Program, came with me to meet a bunch of new friends and show off how well behaved he could be!

Coal Pepper trained with us a couple years ago but he is back for a Board and Tune program because his new brother Brody is joining us for his 2 week Board and Train program!

Brody, now the 4th dog we have trained for this family 🥰, is one of the sweetest gentlest souls that you have ever met! We have been working on his recall because the family is transitioning to farm life where the boys will get much more room to roam, and we’ve been working on his heel command because he will not have to pull a sled out in the field which is what he seems to think a leash is for 🙄🤣

You may remember Ezekiel from his training program several months ago. He is boarding with us while his family goes on vacation and he has been on his BEST behavior!

A Malinois is NOT the breed for everyone, BUT when you start young with training and are as consistent as his owners have been, the result is an amazing dog that is as comfortable relaxing and hanging out as he is playing at 1000 mph (and he definitely can play at 1000 mph, that’s for sure 😂)

What’s happenin’ Folks!!!

I have been slacking on social media posts so let me get back into the groove of posting regularly with Brittany Spaniels Fig & Maple, who just spent a week in our Board and Tune program after doing our One on One program a couple of years ago.

Mimo is a 3 yr old GoldenDoodle with a heart of gold BUT his excitement at making friends takes a toll on his bedside manners.

We are working on Mimo greeting new friends a little more calmly because he is WAY too big to be jumping on people!!!

I am late to the party as Mae went home yesterday and Ezekiel goes home tomorrow but I just wanted to share their pics because both of these guys are SUPER photogenic.

Daisy is a 7 yr old Shiba Inu/Husky mix that was recently rescued from Mecklenburg Co by way of Cabarrus Co.

Though not much is known about her past, she is the sweetest, gentlest girl who still runs around and plays like a puppy!

The biggest issue with Daisy?

She pulls on a leash like sled dog! (Wonder which of her breeds she got that from 🤔🧐)

And she is an escape artist of houdinis caliber, so we need to make sure she has a VERY solid recall!!

Axle is a 4 yr old German Shepherd x Belgian Malinois.

He can be a little insecure at times and he has learned to pretend to be a bully to cover up those insecurities.

Don’t fake it til you make it Axle, just be the sweet guy you really are!!

🌸Meet Daisy🌸

Daisy is a 7 month old mixed breed. She hasn’t had a DNA test but I’m pretty sure she’s half spark plug and half cuddle bug.

She’s spending a couple weeks with us so that she can learn some communication so we can help her make some better decisions when she gets excited!

I have been slacking on posting so I introduce you to Cosmo the day before he goes home 🏡

Cosmo is an Ovcharka, Caucasian Mountain Dog.
We’ve all seen the evolution chart from ape 🦧 into man 🕺
Well… Cosmo is 1 step back from the Grizzly🐻 on the Bear evolution chart 😳

Ovcharkas are a fierce Livestock Guardian Dog. STRONG, Protective, Independent are some of the characteristics of the breed and Cosmo takes his job VERY SERIOUSLY!!

Cosmo stayed with us to hopefully give his family the tools they need to let Cosmo know that the neighbor mowing his lawn is no threat to the family home 😂

Like most of the big, strong, intimidating dogs that I have worked with, this guy has shown me his sweet, sensitive, cuddly side once we broke through that tough exterior 🥰

Winnie the Golden (not the Pooh) is also here with us.

This sweet sensitive girl likes to act tough when she sees other dogs out for her walks but it’s all an act to cover up her insecurities.

Our plan is to show her that pretending to be a bully is not allowed and get her some exposure to new friends so she can see other dogs aren’t as bad as she thinks they are.

What’s happenin’ Folks!!

🚨Max is here and is available for adoption‼️🚨

From my observations over his first week, Max takes a little time to warm up but once he does he is the sweetest boy ever! He has been great over night in his crate and is eager to learn and work! In his down time, he definitely needs a watchful eye as his curiosity kills… well just about anything he can get his mouth on.

He is definitely a high energy guy but also has an off switch where he will just plop down and relax.

Our training will go with this guy so if you adopt him we will do one on one lessons while you learn how to reinforce his commands and I can help you address any behavior while he adjusts to his new environment.

Here is what his current foster has to say:

Max is seeking for his forever home/family!!!
Max is a one-year-old, 31-pound beautiful, pit/terrier/hound mix dog. He is a very energetic, happy-go-lucky, determined, spirited, expressive, and playful boy that loves to play and cuddle. Max is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. Max is still very much a puppy and needs love, patience, and the right person/family. He needs people who understand his breed. Max knows some commands such as sit, lay down, and stay. He is extremely treat motivated and gentle while receiving his treats.

Max ideal home would be with somebody who is active and wants to go in long walks and hikes with him. Max loves to swim and would do great in any adventures you’d like to go on. Although Max is a lot of dog and still in the puppy stages, he’d probably do best in a house without small kids or small other animals. Max loves to be the center of attention. He’d love to be your one and only and give you all the love you could handle. Max loves going outside to chill, he flops over as if saying “this is the spot, I am not leaving” He loves the outdoors and at the same time at nighttime he is ready to cuddle and chill. He is an excellent companion!
Max is currently working on his manners and will be going into training soon.”

Coco is a 2 year old German Shepherd who is as strong 💪 as he is handsome 💁‍♂️

He can also be a bit insecure when meeting new people and the last thing we need is a guy this big and strong to get nervous and take matter into his own hands!

Coco is joining us for our 4 week program to learn his commands, get some exposure to new environments, and build his confidence with all of the above 🙌
