Oh for Flocks Sake if it wasn’t bad enough that someone flocked this saddle using tiny BALLS of flocking, it got even worse when I started pulling out synthetic polyfill (like you use in a couch cushion) along with white wool. There really IS a reason that wool is used in saddle panels as it not only provides shape retention and structure to the panels (which are NOT to be shaped like overstuffed sausage pillows), but also wicks heat and moisture and is the best pressure equalizer out there. Please ask anyone who works on your saddle what they flock with. Synthetic polyfill is NEVER appropriate as it holds heat, wont hold a shape and just POOFS to the largest possible volume, which is useful for upholstery, not saddles, and if it gets wet/dirty it makes hard crunchy little moldy chunks. Gross. The properties of wool and plastic will just never be the same! Flocking done well, is both an art and a science and requires TONS of practice and experience.

The lovely Hudson and his mom Beth got their new Loxley Foxhunter model today. He looks so pretty in purple and was so happy that his saddle fits…even though we had to change the gullet bar to one width wider since he was last measured for his saddle 🤭 Sometimes that winter bod sneaks up on ya. It’s so nice though that these saddles are very easily adjusted and flocked right in the barn aisle- especially when your horse changes shape! Also check out the lovely engraving on these new nameplate options- so classic and nice looking!

Already bored…considering bedazzling myself an eye patch…please send healing thoughts because this hurts REALLY bad and I can’t even DRIVE!!! Pro tip: do NOT ignore eye pain for even one day. I should have treated myself as quickly as I would’ve treated my horse. Lesson learned the hard way- as usual. 😬 I have a re-check Monday and then I’ll know when I can be back on the road so if you have an appt this week I may be contacting you to reschedule.

Sometimes when you are 41, a saddler who has never had a custom saddle, and made a deal with yourself that you can order whatever you want if you lose 25 pounds first, you just have to upgrade to the snakeskin cantle and stirrup leather keepers ❤️🐍. This is a gorgeous Loxley Foxhunter LX double flap in cocoa, with creme welt, full calf nappa leather, a forward flap, long billets because I HATE feeling anything under my leg and he prefers an articulated short girth, extra soft seat, slimtech twist, a GP cantle for maximum snakeskin coverage 😉, and of course, the snakeskin accents. It’s designed on the adjustable combi tree (best for classic TB shaped horses), with an extra full front gusset and an extra deep and upswept rear panel for my horse’s exact shape and comfort. I get to put it on him tomorrow!! Woohoo! He is NOT an easy shape to fit, but we can work every detail into a custom saddle so that you AND your horse are comfortable no matter your shapes! That’s my favorite part ❤️🐎❤️
