Do you wanna adopt a hounddddd?!?!? That could really use some cheering up?!?
Meet Belle who was spayed today and guessed to be an older girl at 6yrs old. This girl was found stray with a younger bluetick running stray, which resulted in them both being left at our shelter after not being claimed… We think Belle is an absolute gorgeous bluetick that needs someone to fall for those sweet eyes and big hound ears! Sadly not one single person has asked to interact with her. Belle we know would make someone such a sweet mellow companion. Belle does weigh about 56lbs. Belle does walk ok on leash. Belle has seem fine with other dogs she has met. Belle once outside of the kennel wants nothing more than love. The shelter is a noisy environment that Belle isn’t a fan of at all. Belle needs your help in bringing her some cheer. Belle has been spayed and is UTD on her shots. Belle’s adoption fee is $95 cash or check. Sad for Scout as she was bought back to our shelter today after the dog in the home did not like Scout at all….. Scout is a gorgeous shepherd mix puppy about 5months old and weighs about 32lbs. We will have lots to say about this soon, but as it is an active court case, we are unable to share many details until next week. What we can tell you is that, despite just working with our local community shelters to intake over thirty dogs (and still waiting on several who may be pregnant), we are preparing for another huge intake very soon.

🐾 Meet Hux, our lovable 5-month-old St. Bernard puppy! 🐾

This hunk is a huge boy, but really, he's still just a baby. Hux is doing well with age-appropriate potty and crate training and is just a love bug. Friendly towards strangers, this lovable puppy is incredibly gentle, loves people, and adores other dogs. He would love to have another canine friend in his new home. 🐶❤️

Considering his age, Hux is doing a great job on a flat collar, but a gentle leader is recommended for walks due to his size. He will loose leash walk when it's just the two of you but may pull if there's another dog around. He's a silly puppy, still trying to figure out where his paws are, and regularly trips over his feet. 🦮💕

Hux loves snacks and responds very well to positive reinforcement with pets and treats, making him very easy to train. However, being a St. Bernard, he may take an extra minute to decide if what you're trying to get him to do is worth the reward. He needs patience but will come around... in a Saint minute. ⏳

He is learning how to play and is catching on to fetch. He wants to snuggle on the couch, but if that's not allowed, he's content as long as someone is on the floor with him. He is affectionate, calm, and easygoing in general. 🛋️✨

Drool is his love language, and he shows his love to everyone everywhere. 🐾💦

He is still working on being comfortable in a crate. He has shown interest in his foster's kitty but has been polite. Hux has done well with introductions to human kiddos, but due to his size and puppy energy, a house with dog-savvy kids is preferred, and a house without chickens would be best. 🐔🚫

Meet Magnolia!! This sweet girl came to the shelter from North Carolina when she and her babies needed rescuing. This momma has done such a great job raising her babies and was a surrogate to 3 more that came to us without a momma. Now Magnolia is ready to be pampered and spoiled as she is free from her babies and available for adoption. She is a very chatty girl and will let you know how she's feeling. She will meow for you to give her attention if it's been too long without her getting pets. She is a very loving cat and enjoys being held as well. Magnolia would make a perfect cuddle buddy for anyone! She can be cat selective with who she gets along with here at the shelter, so she may thrive best in a house where she is the only animal. If Magnolia sounds like the cat for you, please get in touch with us!

🌟 Help Needed for Our Recent Rescue Mission! 🌟

Last week, we brought in 68 dogs from HSUS, and many of you have asked how you can help with this huge undertaking. Here’s how you can assist:

1️⃣ Toys and Treats for Big Dogs:
You guys rocked it with toys and treats for our puppies and small dogs. Now we need to share the love with the big guys who just came in. We are looking for non-consumable large dog toys and treats (no natural chews). Items like Nylabones, Starmark Everlasting Chews, and Pupcicle treat dispensers are perfect. KEEP IT LOCAL: Natural Pet Essentials is running a great promotion just for us on Pupcicles. You can purchase one from Kim in-store or over the phone, and she will deliver them to us. You can also check out our wish list on Chewy by clicking the link below.

2️⃣ Monetary Donations:
All 68 of these pups require spay and neuter operations before being adopted. Additionally, several special needs pups will need more extensive and expensive vet care. Your monetary donations can make a huge difference.

3️⃣ Cleaning Supplies:
We need to refill our cleaning supplies. Items like trash bags (both kitchen and heavy duty), Lysol/Clorox wipes, bleach, laundry pods, and dishwasher tabs are greatly appreciated. If you're sending items from Amazon, please have them delivered to 1171 N. Boston Rd, Troy, VA 22974.
