We are wrapping up grooming and I am sending my staff home asap to make sure they can get home. So, it's official, we will close at noon today. It won't be me spending the night, so let's hear some shout outs to Jordan for pulling tonight's overnight. He will be here to ensure everyone is safe and sound

We just had a new client message me with concern that we are not going to take care of their dog during Cat Day. So I thought I would let you guys know what Cat Day means to dog owners. It means we might make you wait in your car for a minute while we get the cats inside and away from the dogs. It means that we are not grooming dogs today. There will be no dogs running around our grooming room. Cat Day is about grooming, cats and cats only to provide a safe and calm environment for the cats while we do things they don't like. Cats inherently do not like grooming and they are not as trainable as dogs. We try to provide a calm and quiet environment so that we minimize the stress for the cats and my staff while we take on a dangerous task.

The dogs are still being taken care of. They are being walked and fed and played with, they just aren't being groomed today. So you don't have to worry, we are still loving on our canine friends. How do we do this? We bring in extra staff. Cat day means my staff is working overtime. It means people who are usually off come in to help.

We still love all species....

Snow is coming! Snow is coming!

People have been calling all day about the upcoming weather and what it means. It means that we are currently under a winter weather advisory. We are staying tuned and due to the risk of roads being impassible, I will be spending the night at Creatures tomorrow night to ensure that everyone is taken care of in the inclement weather. We don't like to take chances and we also don't like you or our staff to risk getting injured or stranded.

It does mean we may not be able to offer grooming services or daycare. If we are on limited staff the care of boarding animals comes first. In addition we may limit hours where we wait on customers, so make sure you check social media or call (434) 973-4437.

It also means if we have limited staff, we may be unable to answer the phones each time. Please leave a message and we will call you back. If I am walking dogs or shoveling snow, I will not be answering the phones, but I will come in and return calls.

We have preemptively rescheduled Monday's grooming, except for dogs that are boarding. If there is nothing and you were scheduled for grooming, call us Monday and we will probably get you in on Monday.

Do not drive if you don't feel safe! Call us and we will reschedule anything you need.

Most big dogs love snow and most toy breeds hate it. If your dog likes snow, we still walk. If your dog hates it, we try to walk.

Today is New Year's Eve!

Just a reminder, we are open from 8:00 until noon today and will be closed to the public tomorrow. We reopen for normal hours on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.

We often get asked about emergencies and what happens. In the event of a fire or carbon monoxide, we have a state of the art alarm system. There are over 40 sensors in the building for both fire and carbon monoxide. They are sensitive. It is programmed to call the fire department immediately. It simultaneously calls me, my husband, and key staff members. This morning I cleaned out a vacuum filter and released a lot of dust. When Jasper started vacuuming the empty cat runs a dust cloud resulting in setting off the alarm... I yelled at Jasper to ensure all was okay, it was. I ran to the alarm to override it, but I wasn't fast enough. And this was about a minute that passed. It had already called the fire department and they were already here. They arrived within a minute of resetting the alarm. They checked everything out and left While this wasn't an emergency, it did demonstrate how it works and that it works. As a thank you to the Emergency workers that came in bad weather, we will be making a donation to the S.T.F.D. #creaturesgreatandsmall

Donations for our local shelter will be accepted until October 31, 2024. You can whether or not we are open. Items can be used, but in usable condition .
