We are the only Fear Free Certified Practice in Charlottesville and are looking for a *Customer Service Representative (CSR)* to add to our unicorn hospital! We aren’t like the animal hospitals that you’re used to: we value our team, care for our patients as if they were our own pets, and are openly supportive of our LGBTQ+ friends and family.

Looking to expand your animal knowledge? We may be the hospital for you! We treat exotics, reptiles and avians as well as dogs and cats, so each week is a new adventure with opportunities to expand skills and knowledge.

As we are a small, close-knit team, we are looking for individuals with previous experience as a veterinary receptionist. We have a detailed training program to help walk new-hires through all of our procedures and to make sure they’re started out on the right foot.

In this position, the CSR must adhere to the practice’s client-centered philosophy and show enthusiasm and willingness to perform as necessary to help the practice function as a unit. This includes assisting in facility cleaning and maintenance.

The CSR's duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

*Checking in and financially discharging clients

*Answering a multi-line telephone system

*Scheduling appointments

*Filing medical records

*Entering client and patient information accurately and in a timely manner

*Handling/weighing of patients

*Performing appointment confirmation calls

*Email correspondence with clients

*Faxing and scanning documents

*Communicating information to the client as requested the the LVT and DVM

*Escorting clients and patients to the exam room

*Ability to diffuse difficult situations in a compassionate manner

*Cleaning of the reception area, desk and exam rooms as needed

*One year of experience as a medical CSR, veterinary CSR, or with medical scheduling is required for consideration.

Salary starting at $14/hr, but will be discussed based upon experience.

Full-Time OR Part-Time.

Must maintain their state license and remain in good standing with the board.
Complete 8 hours of CE each year as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia to maintain state license.
Must provide copies of CE certificates to be kept in personnel record.
Must have basic computer literacy skills and be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously while working in a busy environment.
Must also be able to lift 50 pounds, work on feet all day, and write legibly.
Must be customer service oriented and friendly.
Professional appearance required, scrubs are to be worn at all times and are furnished by the employee.
Must be able to work all shifts.

Job Type: Full-time or Part-Time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour, but may be adjusted based on proficiency.

Our veterinary assistants act as the right hand to our Licensed Veterinary Technician and our Veterinarian in the care of our patients. Their role includes restraining, cleaning and walking the patients. Our veterinary assistants must be able to follow instructions quickly and must be able to proficiently and safely handle patients of all temperaments. Our veterinary assistants also fill the role of kennel attendant, and take care of our patients’ needs within the treatment and ward areas. They are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital and grounds in order to ensure a comfortable environment for our patients and clients.

In addition, our assistants:

Annual health screenings for senior pets are very important and can help Dr. DiCarlo pick up on and treat medical issues before they become major problems.

In our packages, we include a comprehensive bloodwork panel, radiographs and a complete abdominal ultrasound. Mild sedation is also included if needed since we like to keep things Fear Free!
