We hope this message finds you and your pets well. As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and health of our community and our staff, we want to remind you of the state law requiring all pets to be vaccinated against rabies.

Rabies is a serious zoonotic disease of mammals that poses significant risks to both animals and humans. Unfortunately, there is no treatment once symptoms appear, and it is fatal in 100% of cases. Vaccination is the most effective way to protect your pets and prevent the spread of this disease.

Please note that rabies vaccine titers are not accepted as proof of vaccination by our practice or by the State of Massachusetts. If we do not have valid documentation on file, your pet will need to receive the rabies vaccine during their next visit. Exceptions will be made if a pet is too ill or infirm to receive the vaccine, but that decision will be made by the attending veterinarian. Voluntary waivers for this vaccine are not available, nor will be accepted. If your pet is due for the rabies vaccine and you decline having it administered, you may be asked to seek care elsewhere.

If you have any questions or need to update your pet’s vaccination records, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Today, we honor the bravery, courage, and resilience of all who were affected by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We want to extend a special tribute to the working dogs who stood by their human counterparts in those challenging days—search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs, and many more. These loyal companions played an essential role in the aftermath, offering comfort, finding survivors, and reminding us of the unbreakable bond between humans and animals.

We will never forget the heroes of 9/11—both two-legged and four. 🐾🕊️
