January 1 2024 (1/1/24), our updated prices and policies will go into effect immediately. As listed above💜

Due to inflation, and prices raising everywhere, we still want to provide quality & affordable training to everyone! These prices we have adjusted slightly to reflect the time, work, and out of pocket money we put in to this business that we are so incredibly passionate about!

Above you will see that we have noted some important things about our policies & training methods for easy access. 🙂

The most notable adjustments will be the $10 bump in our regular session price putting them at $60, and our $50 bump in board & train prices putting them starting at $800.

Also note that sessions must be paid at time of booking with exceptions being those who pay with cash or check :)

As many of you know myself along with hundreds of other force free based trainers have been working tirelessly with to bring awareness to the abusive dog training practices of the self proclaimed trainer “The Dog Daddy”

Dog daddy has decided to take a trip to conduct extremely abusive “training classes” in both Atlanta GA & Nashville TN. We are currently awaiting information on both classes, and plan to organize & conduct peaceful protests in both locations with other dog trainers and pup owners in the area.

Monday 9/18/2023 at 3pm EST we will be having a livestream here on Instagram discussing details and answering questions and chatting so please drop by!

“But my dog stopped being bad after the correction.”

There are huge misconceptions in the training world about behavior & corrections. While yes you may have seen quick results after using correction-based training let's take a step back to look at where it came from.

Dogs react out of emotions, everything a dog does is an explanation of how they emotionally processed a situation. When you correct a dog because you don't like the behavior you are basically expressing that you don't want to be bothered by how they feel, rather than trying to help them change how they feel.

As we know from science and experience correcting unwanted behavior rather than focusing on getting to the route of it and figuring out how we can either 1 put management into place to help our dogs not have to interact with whatever is making them that uncomfortable, or 2 put a redirection modification plan into place to first understand what is making them uncomfortable, and why. Then we can begin to dive deeper into desensitization, redirection, and working to change that emotional response to whatever is the root of the issue.

When our dogs display unwanted behavior it's because they have emotionally processed something in a way we would consider incorrect. If we jump to correct it we are actually just suppressing the emotions and saying “Hey that bothers me and I don't care what you think!” which in turn is secretly supercharging that reaction to take you to a whole new level of problems somewhere down the road. If we were to really put in the work and not jump for quick short-term solutions, we can begin to build a stronger, more empathetic relationship to help put a redirection-based plan to help change that emotional response to something more desired.

Undesirable vs Bad Behavior & Why terminology matters in the dog training world.

I know what your thinking, why in the world does it matter what we call something, the point is to fix the dog right? But realistically terminology has everything to do with training a dog! It's about our mindsets, how to approach issues that we are having, and how we set up a plan. When I was a traditionally balanced trainer the word “bad” was thrown around everywhere whether to tell a dog they were being bad, or telling people about the bad behaviors your dog was having and trying to fix it. But to fix problems we must first understand them…

When transitioning to LIMA and Force Free baised training methods, and expanding my knowledge to more science-backed training I had time to fit and think about “bad behavior” I deal with plenty of behavior issues on a daily basis, whether that be jumping, barking, reactivity, arousal, aggression, etc. Having an aggressive dog myself I really got first-hand experience on watching his life unfold.

We have to take a moment to step back and analyze the situation. My dog does not like other dogs and has extremely negative reactions. His behavior is not BAD, it's a behavior I do not desire, or want, but it's not bad, it's an emotional reaction, and understanding of how canine behavior and psychology works, as well as understanding the background of my dog I know that he is not being bad, never was and never will be. He is a backyard-bred mutt who like all of his siblings is genetically dog aggressive, with some lack of socialization playing a small part in that, but inevitably he will always have dog issues, and yes the negative reactions are behaviors i do not want him to display, but my goal is not to “fix” him, its to not suppress his emotions, to understand where he is uncomfortable, and to set him up for success and do my best to create an environment that reduces his stress as much as possible, and utilize force-free training to not suppress his emotions but guide him to hopefully one day have neutrality toward other dogs, in his own time.

Program puppy life is starting here at RBDT and babies are coming!

I leave for a 10 hour trip next Sunday to go pickup our first of 8 service dog puppies!

So excited for the puppies to come and change their handlers lives! So much more to come so stay tuned!!

Why did I crossed over to LIMA (Lest Intrusive Minimally Aversive) focused training?

I joined the dog community around 2018 when I began planning to get a service dog. I was heavily involved, I knew all the drama, all the people, all the dogs! I tried to make friends, most of them ended up being things I had to leave behind because they were horrible people.

The extremes of force free, balanced, compulsion, etc were just a constant battle of people fighting! I made a decision early on to use balanced training methods when training my own dog and educating myself on training others dogs. I’ve always had the mindset that every dog is different and needs their own training plan, and I still stand by that today, but with some fine lines attached.

I am so proud to say I have NEVER abused a dog, could I have made mistakes? Absolutely! Growing is not liner but I have never done anything that could have mentally or physically harmed a dog! My knowledge base still continues to grow even now that I am running a company!

When I first started I identified myself very clearly as a traditional balanced trainer, I advocated then as I do now for proper tool use, I explained how dogs learned and educated people on training their dog ethically! BUT as amazing as my dogs are there were definitely holes that needed to be filled.

When I made the decision after lots of research and fact searching and furthering my knowledge on canine learning I realized that more often then not I was not trying the less Adversive options, I often recommend a prong before offering a gentle leader or front clip harness, and while yes a lot of dogs do well on the prong I often didn’t push people so much to focus on a goal of not needing an Aversive!

RBDT had our first group training session today with 6 of our amazing dogs! Mozzy, Orbit, Zeus, Rosie, MayMay, & Frodo!

The pups got to see some super cool animals at the and practice skills they have learned! So proud of all of these cuties and how far they have come! Can’t wait for future adventures with even more dogs!

You are the line between your dogs success and failure!

as a dog trainer everyone expects me to be able to fix their dogs and create the perfect dog! Wow yes I can absolutely do that, the line of success rests with the owner.

When you sign up for a training, you are saying that you are a responsible dog owner and that you will follow instructions from a trainer, and will continue to do the work at home!

many people think that just going through and training a dog with a trainer is all that needs to be done but the most important steps take place without the trainer, when you are alone with your dog and you are continuing to be consistent, setting expectations and boundaries that you stay firm on!

Taking A Person Approach To Dog Training.

dog training is an amazing experience, between getting to spend time with fluffy friends, helping interpret dogs feelings and minds to their owners, helping owners and dogs learn to enjoy life together, and getting to meet many new people!

most people think of dog training as The perfect job for people who don’t like people! But that is simply not the case! Dog training has more to do with the humans than it does the dogs.

interacting and teaching humans to be the best owners and handlers of the dogs that they can possibly be is one of the most if not the most important part of training a dog!

Because reality is I can take a dog for A four week board and train, I can get the dog to have skills learned and advance them add an extremely fast pace. But the real question is will the owner keep everything up when they go home?

Dog training relies all on the owner! We are there to teach the dog how, and guide you both as a team to perfection, but if you don’t keep up your end of the bargain, and continue training… The progress I made over those 4 weeks will waist away into nothing!

being able to connect with people, teach them, and give them hope and reliability and their dog, is one of the most amazing things you can ever do!

between getting to see my dogs be successful, and getting to know so many different individuals and making lifelong friends. I would definitely say the dog training is an amazing personal experience in every way!
