This week last year was one of the worst weeks of my life. And Beau’s, although we had several more truly awful ones to come. Here’s to the big guy’s guardian angel, appropriately named Mary, who stuck with him until we had some light at the end of the tunnel. She will forever be Hail Mary to Beau and me.

If I have learned anything this year, it’s been to stop assuming that it’s not anyone’s game out here in the of . It’s absolutely anyone’s game, and the two different horses in these photos are nowhere near as far apart as one might think. It hurts Whip’s heart to know that the silver really does look a little bit better on a bay.
