Last Saturday we had 325 dogs in care, in a building designed to hold about 175. Since then, more than 50 have entered and only 16 have been adopted or reclaimed. Our dog population has now soared to more than 360 in care, and there is literally no space available. This situation is not humane or sustainable. We desperately need your help.
The situation is critical, and there are several ways you can make a difference:
+ Adopt! If you’ve been considering adoption, now is the time! Bringing a dog into your home right now would not only change their life but also give us the space to help others in need. November 23rd and 24th, MAC will be waiving fees for ALL canines, including puppies in an effort to find homes for the dogs in our care.
+ If you’re not sure you’re ready for a new dog, take one for a test drive with a Slumber Pawty! Whether it’s for a night, the weekend or longer, this is a great way to try things out without the commitment.
+ Foster. Even if you’re not looking for a permanent addition, we have dozens of dogs that need a temporary break from the shelter. Even a short time can have a massive impact.
+ Donate. Operating over capacity has pushed our resources to the limit. Supplies like linens, treats, pet food, and kennels are running out quickly, and monetary support helps us replenish what we need to care for the animals. Any contribution—big or small—makes a difference.
+ Spread the word. Talk to your friends, family, colleagues, or anyone who will listen. Share our story and let them know how critical the need is. The support of our community is what allows us to keep going, and we can’t do this without you.
