Is your pet due for a wellness exam but unable to attend an in person appointment? We have you covered, we offer drop-off appointments!

Drop off appointments are designed to help with your busy schedule, you and your pet will arrive between 7 and 8 in the morning, a vet tech or assistant will take a thorough history to ensure we gather all necessary information for the doctor.

While your pet is at SAH, our staff will monitor, provide fresh water and walk your pet. We will keep you updated via text or call, depending on your preference, about your pet’s well-being.

Many traditional Thanksgiving dishes, such as stuffing, gravy, and desserts, contain ingredients that can be harmful to pets, like onions, garlic, grapes, and chocolate. Instead, offer pet-safe treats so they can join in the festivities without any risk.

Ensure that any decorations, like candles or small ornaments, are placed where curious pets can't accidentally knock them over or ingest them. By taking these precautions, you can ensure a happy and safe holiday for everyone in your home, including your beloved pets. 🐾🦃

With the support and expertise of Dr. Swears at Happy Visits, Max has made significant progress in his preventive care. We were able to administer his vaccinations without causing him any distress. The owner provided high-value treats, and a vet assistant, who has built a rapport with Max, directly offered the treats while Dr. Swears gently pinched the skin and successfully gave the vaccine. Max left SAH with a wagging tail and a happy face.

Happy Visits are led by Dr. Swears, a level 2 Fear Free Certified Veterinarian, designed to help pets overcome fear, anxiety and stress during veterinary visits. During the initial examination, she discusses future goals to ensure a stress-free experience. It’s starting to get chilly! The cold weather can impact your pet's joints, skin, activity levels, and daily routines. Here are some helpful tips to get your pet ready for winter:

❄️Create a warm, cozy space that is elevated from the floor and shielded from drafts.
❄️Consider using sweaters or jackets for short-haired, small, or senior pets.
❄️Limit your pet's outdoor time during extreme cold temperatures.

Some pets may have changing nutritional needs in winter. Consult your veterinarian if you suspect this could apply to your pet.

Shallowford Animal Hospital provides a wide range of pet surgical services, including simple teeth cleanings, teeth extractions, and spay/neuter procedures. We provide a safe and clean environment for your pets stay. We will monitor before, during and after surgery to ensure your pet is feeling okay to go under anesthesia and are okay to go home after surgery.

Our veterinarians will review oral x-rays to determine if your pet has any problematic teeth that may need to be removed in the future and are close by to maintain visual of your pet and vitals while under anesthesia.
