The address for VCSG’s ER service is still 3201 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN 37408, and we are still 24/7/365.

It is an exciting time at Veterinary Care and Specialty Group! In January, we opened the new Pullen Cancer Center which has expanded both the physical footprint of VCSG as well as the services that we offer.

We are now entering the second phase of the VCSG updates with a remodel of our primary facility. The remodel includes expanded ICU space, additional surgical suites, expanded space for all specialty services, and the addition of a 128-slice CT machine. These updates will continue to support VCSG’s mission to provide the highest level of care through advanced treatment and diagnostics close to home.

To ensure the highest level of comfort for patients and their families, we are moving all ER services to the Pullen Cancer Center during the duration of the remodel to our emergency and critical care areas of the hospital. This phase of the VCSG facility updates will begin on April 24, 2024. During the renovation, all services will be fully operational. We look forward to continuing to provide your patients with the highest level of emergency and specialty care. Look for the RED entrance!

🌟 Exciting News from VCSG! 🌟 Meet Trinket, our 10-year-old spayed Yorkie cancer survivor superstar 🐾

Trinket was referred to us by her primary veterinarian for a perianal mass, and our Internal Medicine and Oncology teams worked together to identify a Mast Cell Tumor. 💔

In the spirit of collaboration, we discussed various treatment options, and after a heartfelt conversation with her owners, we decided that the Stelfonta injection protocol was the perfect fit for Trinket.

The journey was a special one for us, as it marked the first Stelfonta injection we've seen and performed in the hospital! 🏥💖

Throughout Trinket's healing process, her amazing owners kept us in the loop with updates and adorable pictures. 📸 At her one-month post-injection recheck, the news was nothing short of fantastic - Trinket was thriving at home, the wound didn't bother her, and she was back to her lively self! 🎉🐶

We're overjoyed to share that Trinket achieved a complete response, and we're grateful to have been a part of her successful journey. 🙌💕 Check out these heartwarming photos capturing the resilience and triumph of Trinket! 📷🐾

What is Stelfonta?
- Stelfonta is an injection that is FDA-approved local treatment for non-metastatic Mast Cell Tumors.
- Their website is very helpful and user friendly-check it out!
https://vet-us.virbac.com/stelfonta

How does it work?
-Your pet will be sedated, the mass will be clipped/cleaned, and our Oncologist will administer the injection into the mass. After your pet recovers from sedation, they are ready to go home!
-Stelfonta is fast acting, most likely within the hour you will notice the mass changing color or looking inflamed. By day 7 the mass should start becoming necrotic, this will look a little scary but it is a good sign!
-The mast cell tumor will slowly die thus creating a wound.
-After about a month post injection the affected area should be halfway healed and with time the wound will be fully healed.

If you have any questions on treating Mast Cell tumors with Stelfonta, please reach out to your primary veterinarian for a referral to our oncology department. 🐶
