Dirty Boots Ranch is a family owned farm that raises our animals as naturally as possible. We are working towards being as sustainable as possible and observe organic practices. Our pigs are from premier Iowa stock with parents on-site. Our boar, Ragnar, is huge and big 'teddy bear'. They are raised on pasture and woodlot and eat non-GMO feed and hay that we raise on the Ranch. Our Finnsheep are a

lso raised on pasture and live together as a family with their guardian Alpacas and Great Pyrenees, Freya.

My eldest daughter, Hanna Monsen and I have started our cut flower business here on the farm. We commissioned a farm/flower stand from Greg Nolan and it is stunning! It is built on skids so we can move it around, but the final resting place will be at the end of the driveway on Elk-Chat Road. Can't wait to fill it up with flowers and maybe Greg's honey too.
Come visit the stand this summer at Monsen's Farm and Flower aka Dirty Boots Ranch.

We are excited to announce a new business venture on the farm. My daughter Hanna and I are creating a Flower Farm!
We will have a flower stand, U-Pick, Sip&Snip events, and eventually Farmers Markets. We will also allow photographers and their clients to roam the fields and DIY Wedding flowers. So many ideas!
But, we need your help to name this new venture. Let us know which one you like or tell us your idea.

Mum and Daughter's Flowers
Monsen's Flower Farm
Deer Creek Farm & Flowers (deer creek flows through our property)
Dirty Boots Ranch & Flowers
Blom Farm (old Norse for flower and there would be a ' above the o)

I love Fall on the farm! Propagating rosemary and mint in the 'greenhouse' and our outhouse looks to be listing a bit. It hasn't been used in many years and is filled in. Maybe time to move it?

And here he is! Meet Gaston, our Cheviot ram. At 7 months, he is approx. 80lbs!!

Our Story

Dirty Boots Ranch is a family farm that raises our livestock as naturally as possible. We are working towards being as sustainable as possible and observe organic practices. We raise Finnsheep, cows, horses, llama and seasonally, pigs.

We also enjoy sharing the farm life with our guests at our Airbnb 1940s cottage and soon we will be offering weddings and special events here on the farm! We will be converting the top of our 1903 barn into a rustically beautiful venue and the surrounding fields and hill will be yours to enjoy for the event. The cottage will be included in the rental for the bride and her friends to get ready for the big day in comfort. And if you want to spend the night, it’s available!

Come enjoy your special day on the farm, Dirty Boots Ranch-style.
