Temperament testing day was a success! The babies were a little shy in a new and scary environment, but they rallied and made new friends in Paul and Ashley!

The Vacuums are just a couple days off of 8 weeks and it was time for them to get on the table and have their stacked photos taken!
They had their vet appointment this morning for their 8 week exams and their first vaccines and they all passed with flying colors. They also have their temperament evaluation on Friday morning to see which of the lucky boys will go to CA as a service dog prospect!

2 of the boys are still available, possibly as a show prospect, or even a service prospect depending on what the trainer says on Friday.

“There is no such thing as a safe harness that prevents pulling. The reason sled dogs, carting dogs, etc wear harnesses: because they disperse pressure to make pulling MORE comfortable

Harnesses that clip in the front function only to impede gait on one side, and especially on growing puppies they can cause permanent developmental issues with their muscles, joints, and spine.

Find a certified trainer and talk about different training tools for your situation. Contrary to what many may say, a prong collar is the safest tool with the lowest risk of injury in almost all contexts. It's VERY difficult to harm a dog with a prong because of the way it disperses pressure around the neck, avoiding pressure directly on the trachea like a flat collar would. You do need to be familiar with the mechanics and psychology behind any tool before putting it on your dog, but if you need an aid to stop pulling, it needs to be a type of collar. Head halters are another "gentle" device that when pulled on, can harm the dog's neck. I've made sure to work with every training collar under the sun and with my current dog, a slip chain has been the best but that's another one that's easy to misuse without training

A trainer now for a few courses on walk manners will save you so much time, money, and energy on behavior mod later in life, trust me.”

The babies are 8 weeks old!!
Everyone received a clean bill of health at the vet, had wonderful report cards from their temperament testing, and then got put on the table one last time before the first boy leaves tonight.
They have been such fun babies, I can’t wait to watch them take on the world with their new families!
