At this time we are still doing only surrendered cats and Mom's last litter. We will post male neuter appointments as they come available.
This week during our spay and neuter we had two Chehalis high school volunteers. One plans to go into veterinary medicine.
We spayed and neutered 15 cats. It was a long day, and having such earnest volunteers to assist makes everything run more smoothly.
This is our surgical suite in the morning, prepped for patients.

Laundry, laundry, laundry and MORE laundry!!

It's never ending with cat bedding and surgery!

One of the (many) things we use is laundry pods. We use pods instead of powder or liquid to minimize the risk of spills and need for volunteers to remember and fuss with measuring.

Are you able to help?

Miss Opal Ann is in her happy place one day after 16 teeth were extracted at the vet. 7 had already fallen out and 7 were good enough to be kept.

She is a little groggy but doesn't seem to be in much pain and is not pawing at her face at all.

Opal came to us in the spring of 2010. She and 3 other kittens were orphaned at 2 weeks when their mother was killed by a dog. The three siblings were adopted out, but Opal bonded with our founder and ended up staying.

Her breath smells so much better and our hope is she will put some weight back on and maybe her tummy troubles will settle down now that all of the yuck from her teeth isn't making it upset.

With her initial exam, blood work, heart workup (she has a slight murmur) and extractions, the cost has been a little over $2400.

Her time in the spotlight.
Every cat gets prepped for surgery. Surgery is completed, then aftercare begins.
Currently, we are only doing surrendered cats such as our Mom's last litter program.
In the future, when the Cafe is finished, we should be able to fix more cats as well as small dogs.

Post surgery, kitties are wrapped in a clean towel in a carrier. The carriers are on warning pads to keep them comfortable.
(These kittens are being surrendered for adoption. We will open back up to the public for spay/neuter once our remodel is complete.)

A mom, and 6 of her older kittens, came in today for their boosters, rabies vaccine, and spays/neuters.
They are in line for space in the kennels at Kaija's Garden and Pet .
Currently, we are in the planning/permitting phase of our remodel. This will allow us to adopt from our own building. We will have more spaces available, visiting rooms, and a cat cafe.

Current cats available at Kaija's Garden and Pet

Indoor homes only. We are not adopting out outdoor cats or barn cats at this time.

$150 adoption fee includes:
Spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine, distemper & leukemia vaccines & boosters, parasite control (fleas, roundworms, tapeworms, ear mites), ID tag & collar.

Leukemia/FIV tests are performed on mom cats, intact sexually mature male cats, or kittens/cats that are sickly when we first see them.

We also offer an exchange guarantee.... if a kitten or cat you adopt is not working out in your household, you may exchange (no refund) it for a different kitten/cat. This can be done after 4weeks (to give it a chance to settle in) but before 5 weeks.

If you need to return a kitten/cat (no exchange or refund), this can be done at any time.

Any exchanges or returns must be approved by The Cat's Meow via text at 360.623.0820.

UPDATE: Twinsy went to the Kitty Klinic in Lacey today and was diagnosed with neurological and occular FIP. Medication has been ordered and she'll start her new 84 day treatment in a couple of days. She is such a wonderful, sweet little girl - we really hope this will help her. ❤️

Twinsy has an appointment with a specialist coming up. She's feeling playful even though she still has symptoms. Antibiotics for 2 weeks did not improve the situation.

Lint rolling surgical fabrics is tedious, but imperative. No stray lint or fur can be allowed to contaminate the surgical tools or sterile area.This is one of the many things volunteers can do to assist Twila with the never ending work involved in running this program.
