Bond denied, moved from district to circuit court (more serious), and this many felonies means that there is going to be real justice for all of the dogs. ❤️ oh, and it looks like bond was denied again! This is an answer to prayer and a Christmas Present all rolled up into one.

As many of you know, the Magnum Opus abuse case left countless dogs in heartbreaking condition and many more lost their lives entirely. I’m currently assisting the Humane Society as we work around the clock to care for 7 rescued puppies who came from this horrific situation.

These babies are safe now—but they are so behind. We’re fostering them, socializing them, helping them learn to trust, and giving them every bit of love they should’ve had from the beginning. ❤️‍🩹

But caring for them takes A LOT—especially food, supplies, and enrichment to help them heal and grow.

Enjoy Charlie, reminding everyone to lay it on thick with the injuries. In fact, pull yourself accross the floor like not a single limb works correctly. You get more toys that way. 🤣

Reagan already has the meaure of fetch. I, however, need to review ball throwing guidelines as its not as easy when laying flat on the floor 😅 He is gonna be somebody's best buddy one day.

We are going to start accepting applications because I want to do extensive conversations before deciding where these boys will be going. They will not be sold like our other puppies are, but we will be asking a reasonable donation to cover some of their expenses and also donate back a portion to the humane society that helped rescue them, since they will not be getting paid until after the animal cruelty trial.

I gotta be honest. The first day I was calling him "angel baby" because he was such a doped up, sweet thing. Now he is coming back into himself again and I no longer use that name 😄

I am so heart sick of bad news.... The boys were both settling in so well but we were noticing that they were really depending on one another for their confidence. Knowing that they would be better off if they could gain independence and confidence on their own, we asked someone very experienced with puppies and who had expressed an interest in ultimately keeping Charlie, to foster him in her home while we wait for DNA results.
Due to no fault of the foster, another party put Charlie with a dog who snapped at him over a toy. The foster immediately ensured that veterinary care was received by an emergency vet and everyone is cautiously optimistic that Charlie will make a full recovery. However, we are keeping our eyes peeled for any complications. Charlie was removed from the Foster's care out of an abundance of caution and so that I can monitor him as he heals.
The foster and I are both heartbroken that this happened. This was never the plan for either of us and we both feel sick to our stomachs that Charlie now has another thing to deal with after everything he went through in the care of Melissa Sanders.

We hate that this happened to Charlie. We are ashamed even though we tried to do everything right. However, this is what breeders need to do when something terrible happens. They need to own up to it. I dont know why Melissa Sanders did what she did, but I can see how one bad outcome that gets hidden leads to continuing to hide things until you are in too deep to ask for help. Dont let your friends and breed community members fall prey to this.

We and our foster made every effort to do right by Charlie, but mistakes and uncontrollable factors sometimes get the best of us and have devastating consequences. Charlie is doing well now and we will keep everyone updated as he heals.

Its been hitting me really hard this last week that Romi is gone. I thought I was doing right by her. I thought I was sending her to an amazing friend- someone who I often thought was doing even better than me with her puppy raising and time committed to extracurriculars with her dogs. She was someone who I would have walked through fire for, but somehow she became the reason Romi is gone.

I am so sorry, Romi. Your momma and sister will take care of these babies in your absence. They will be so loved and I am going to make sure they stay safe for life.

This Thanksgiving, we are so very thankful for all that we have and all of our puppy families who love their dogs so well. To everyone who helped us to get to Missouri and get these puppies home, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I haven't had the mental or emotional capacity to process the last 24 hours yet. I am finally able to announce that Romi was found deceased on the property. We had prayed so hard that she had been placed with someone else and had escaped that house. We are still waiting to get the necropsy released to us to learn the details of how she passed, but even without them, I know that Romi died trying her best to keep her babies alive- She would have done nothing less.. To honor her commitment to her babies, we took a tuft of hair from each of her puppies and she will be cremated with that so that she gets to keep a piece of then with her forever. I am so sorry, Romi. I wish I would have known sooner. I would have moved heaven and earth to save you.

We also got a blow when it came to retrieving the puppies. Animal Control had originally thought that they had 5 puppies of the correct age to be Romi's litter. However, upon closer inspection and discussion with the Central Missouri Humane Society, we both agreed that there were only 3 puppies that matched the description of Romi's litter. So, together with the stud owner, Jay Hill and Yvonne Hill, we have retrieved the 3 puppies of Romi's and Kaiser's. We are heartbroken that some of Romi's puppies most likely lost their lives in that house. We will keep praying that they were put into other homes before the property was raided, but, given the state of the property, we know that is unlikely.

Given the circumstances, we will be genetic testing all of these puppies in order to ensure they are who we think they are. Until then, my family will be taking the next 48 hours to rest, process the events, and get these puppies settled in.

At this time, the information that I can share is limited. I want to thank everyone that has shown so much support. I never imagined that I would be in this situation, but the fact that it was brought about by this person who I trusted and loved as a dear friend... it is unfathomable.

Right now my focus needs to be on Romi's puppies. I will be traveling to Columbia, Missouri the day before Thanksgiving in order to identify them to the courts and hopefully be able to bring them home with the judge's blessing.

This is obviously an expense that no one plans for and never with last minute holiday airfare and winter travel in mind. If you feel it on your heart to help us testify for these babies, please consider donating to us. I will try to add details in the comments, but you may have to message me privately. I am trying to keep this off "go fund me" so they every penny can go to getting the puppies home rather than paying for a site to host the collection.

If you want to help but don't feel comfortable giving privately, then please consider donating to the Central Missouri Humane Society who have been helping care for the animals until they could be released.
