Gus has been the best boy! He is incredibly sweet and seems happy and willing to do whatever you ask. One of the kids hopped on him for a few minutes and he was perfect 🥰

The horses are not a means of entertainment for you to show up and ride once a week. This is definitely a favorite activity for the advanced riders 🤍 Bareback and bridleless is a great way to get a better feel of your horse, and forces you to rely on your seat and voice aids rather than the reins. Horses in a healthy posture should stand with their feet squared, and perpendicular to the ground, not parked out or camped underneath. They’re not all perfect, but for a bunch of senior horses, it makes me happy to see them standing like this as it tells us they’re relatively comfortable in their bodies.
While we can influence their posture and comfort in the work we do with them, it’s the other 23 hours a day that truly matter.

As an instructor, I’m most grateful for the horses I have on my team. Without these horses I wouldn’t be able to teach the kids all of the lessons and horsemanship they learn with us, or give them the fun experiences they cherish.
If you know horses, you know how hard these patient and trustworthy schoolies can be to find, so when you do find them, boy are you grateful for them ❤️
The kids don’t quite understand yet as these are the only horses they’ve ever known, but one day they’ll recognize how good they were to them and the role they played in making them the equestrians they’ve become.
