Friday December 27th 11am-12pm

Kids will get to groom and ride several of our senior lesson horses as well as visit with the other farm animals, and decorate a cookie to feed their favorite horse! 🍪

Our next Little Cowboys and Cowgirls event is this weekend! Participants get to brush the horses, do a walk/trot leadline ride on multiple horses, and feed treats at the end! They can also visit with the goats and kittens while waiting to ride 😉🐱🐐

Batman had his first ride at our farm today with one of our small but experienced students and safe to say he is AMAZING 🤩

He'll continue to ride with the experienced kids some and get outfitted in the right tack, and then he'll start doing lessons!

The kids have quite literally been asking for this since last year... so here it is!

Our 2nd annual Spooky Pony Halloween Fun Show 🐴🎉

Open to our current and past students, any skill level welcome! Riders will be divided into divisions based on skill. Non-rider tickets are also available for friends and siblings who'd like to participate in games, pizza, and the candy scavenger hunt.

Prizes and ribbons will be awarded for classes, and afterwards we'll have pizza and a candy scavenger hunt.

This event was a blast last year and I'm so excited to do it again!

We welcomed a new member to our lesson crew this past weekend!

Everyone meet Batman 🥰

The most common question this week has been... Is he rideable? Yes! Batman is a miniature horse at only 38" tall but is broke to ride walk, trot, canter and goes over obstacles and on trails. Once he settles in and has some rides from the experienced kids we will see what kind of job suits him best, but so far he seems totally down for anything. He is very affectionate and I think will enjoy his job going on adventures with the kids!

2 Available Lesson Openings this Month ✨

•Mondays 10-11 am for an adult rider
•Thursdays 11-12 am for a preteen/teen

Our lesson program focuses on the foundations of riding in both English and western. We offer the opportunity to attend local shows in the all around events or low level dressage (western dressage too!). We are pretty laid back and enjoy showing for fun but our main priority is just to enjoy time with the horses and continue learning ☺️

Sunrise Hill Farm is a 35 acre farm with on property trails, a large outdoor arena, and indoor arena for riding year round.

Little Cowboys and Cowgirls events are back for the fall!

Participants get to brush and feed the horses as well as do a walk/trot leadline ride on multiple horses. This event is a great introduction for young kids to see if they're interested in riding or simply to be around horses!

Every horse teaches you something different!

A small stab in the heart is what you feel when you put up the day's riding list and you see riders sinking heavily in their shoulders when reading which horse they are assigned for the lesson. A small stab in the heart for that horse that for an hour will carry around a rider who has already decided that he does not like his horse. A small stab in the heart for the horse that did not choose the rider himself but still does his best, lesson after lesson.

Riding is a privilege and something you have chosen to do. If you chose to ride at a riding school, your instructor assumes that you actually want to learn how to ride. The instructor's highest wish is that you get good at it.

Often there is a plan and a thought as to why you are assigned to that exact horse. Before you mount up next time, ask yourself "what can this horse teach me today?" All horses have something to give, a feeling or a new tool in the box.

The art is actually in being able to get a lazy horse to move forward, to get an uncertain horse to gain confidence, a naughty horse to focus or a tense horse to be released. It takes work. If you think a horse is boring, it's more likely that you don't ride the horse as well as you think! It's not easy to be confronted with your own shortcomings, but it is in that very situation that you get the chance to truly grow as a rider.

The excuse that "it's not my kind of horse" is actually a really bad excuse. A good rider can ride any kind of horse. A good rider has trained many hours on different types of horses to become a good rider. A good rider can find and manage the gold nuggets in every horse.

If we absolutely want to ride, it is our duty to strive to do it as best as possible, even if it's only for fun. We owe it to every horse that carries us upon it's back.
