Had a little visitor/copilot today. This baby was found near the Publix covered in ants and severely dehydrated. Clearly something happened and she got separated from mom. I gave her some fluids and then contacted a deer rehabilitation program. She is now with them and should hopefully return to full health.
Typically, we recommend leaving fawns alone since the does will hide them while they go graze, but the person who found her did the right thing in this case. Any longer in the hot sun with no milk and she would not have made it.

Hi all,
First of all I want to thank you for being such great clients. I am really blessed to have you and your furry family members in my life.
I just wanted to let every one know that we will not be taking appointments from May 25 through June 11th. I will be on vacation and the truck is getting some much needed maintenance and upgrades.
Shania will be available by phone from 9-3 Monday through Friday and will also be checking e-mails and test messages. We have no appointments left for the month of May. June appointments will resume on the 12th.

Informal Poll:
Would you be interested in early morning appointments i.e 7 am during the summer?
This heat is making it especially difficult on us. In the afternoon it is almost impossible to keep the truck from reaching 90 degrees in the back, which uncomfortable for us and dangerous for our patients. I’m considering shifting all our appointments up 2 hours so that we are not working in the truck in the afternoon.

We hope everyone is excited for the upcoming July 4th weekend. Just some quick updates. We will be closed July 1st through the 4th. We will resume normal hours on the 5th. We will also be closed July 20th through the 23 rd for our yearly continuing education conference. Remember to secure your pets during fireworks and make sure everybody stays cool and hydrated.

Just a quick reminder that the 4th is coming. If your pet is sensitive to fireworks you need to contact us this week. We will be close July 1st through the 4th, so if you wait until next Friday, it will be too late to get medication called in or delivered.

Just wanted to give some updates for the month of March.
We will be closed March 9th (Thursday) through the 13th (Monday).
You are welcome to email, text or leave a voicemail, but we will not be returning messages until Tuesday the 14 th.
If you have an emergency, you can call Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham at 205-967-9107. Their hours for the month of March are as follows
Mon-Tues 8 am to midnight
Wed 4 pm to midnight
Thur-Sun 8 am to midnight
Currently, we are booking appointments about 4 weeks out for most routine appointments and surgery. If you pet has a more urgent need, we will do our best to get them an appointment in a timely manner.

Thank you all for being the best clients any veterinary clinic could have. Shania and I appreciate each and everyone of you.
