Poco Lena was bred to be royalty, sired by Poco Bueno and out of a mare called Sheilwin by Pretty Boy. But as other yearlings at the Waggoners’ Three D Stock Farm were being sold in 1950, no one seemed interested in her. It was just as well. Ranch manager Pine Johnson started working with her and was impressed by her talent. He developed her and started showing her in halter and cutting, where she began impressing a wider audience.

She went on to fame with the equally legendary Don Dodge and later was sold to B. A. Skipper, whose story turned tragic. Skipper was killed in a plane crash on the way back from a cutting, and the driver who had been hired to haul Poco Lena back disappeared. The mare was found four days later in the trailer, where she had been without food and water. She was severely foundered.

Dr. Stephen and Jasmine Jensen heard about the mare’s plight and purchased her, unaware of how bad her condition was. Pure Gold

The 6666 Ranch, headquartered at Guthrie, Texas, has had many outstanding stallions in its 150-year history, but what could be considered the foundation stallion of the ranch was a dun-colored horse with a light mane and tail, foaled in 1940. The stallion’s name was Hollywood Gold.

Hollywood Gold sired 263 registered horses in 22 crops while at the Four Sixes. He was crossed a great deal on mares of Joe Hancock breeding, and the cowboys who rode them swore they were the finest cattle-handling horses alive. One of those cowboys said, “They took a little more riding to get them there, but when you were done, you had yourself a cow horse.”

His blood lives on today through stallions like Playin Attraction, Quahadi and Sixes Pick.

I agree!! I’m working harder than ever.

I started roping for a living in 1980, and my main focus has been on heading this whole time. You basically need to pick a side if you’re going to take a shot at roping at the highest level. Nice gelding with great blood lines . Ran on track as 2 year old stands 15 hands tall .With that being said he was rodeo horse down in texas he has had teeth floated hocks and stifle injected will need to be run on lasix and ulcer meds . He will be project horse just needs tunning on kids where ridding him ba****ck let him get away with a lot of things with that being said he price reflects that check comments vet checks are welcome at buyer expense . Don’t waste my time if your not serious
