Today is transport day! We are partnering with Heart of Louisiana Humane Society and Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter - OPAS to bring 14 lucky pooches to Acadiana Animal Aid! Huge thank you to Cherie Carpenter King for driving for us and to Caitlin LeeAnne Hemphill for making the trip south for HLHS!
Happy Tails all around!
Cajun, the rescue raccoon, is having his dinner! Isn’t he the cutest?🦝❤️
One of our foster moms made this video of Randall! He transported yesterday!
Do you want to make a difference like this and begin fostering? Did you know that our fosters are typically only for a few days up to 2 weeks? Ask me how you can save a life and be the hope animals need!
HELP!
Ruckus is headed for some much needed board and train to help gain some confidence. She was not socialized as a younger pup (she is 7m now) and she is deaf which is not a good combination. Her brother, Jack, bounced back pretty fast, but he can hear!
So, I’m reaching out to donors for help.
The price for board and train for Ruckus for a month is $1,600. She will get 2 sessions a day and also be socialized in dog playgroups. We will reevaluate after two weeks, but feel like she will need the whole month to desensitize her from “scary” things, such as any person except for me! 🤣
She loves and is comfortable around all animals, so that isn’t the issue. She never growls or bites, she just is so scared of people that she runs from them. When cornered, she just avoids eye contact and cowers. Bless her little heart!
If I could just get my hands on that crappy, back yard breeder……
The breeder couldn’t sell them, so he dumped them at our local high kill shelter, which further traumatized them.
She needs this desperately in hopes she can move next level training to move past all this and be a bouncing happy pup around other people. She is scheduled to board on November 11th if and I am trying to raise funds before then.
Thank you to everyone who has supported The Rescue Life in the past. I and the dogs (and occasional kitties) really appreciate it! -Shannon
THIS! This is why we rescue! No, this in NOT a line to surrender pets, it’s the line to adopt!
We transported 9 “their time was up” heartbeats from Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter - OPAS last weekend. They boarded a Wings of Rescue flight in McComb, MS, and flew to Brandywine Valley SPCA. Today, People were queueing up for 2 1/2 hours to adopt the Brandywine dogs this morning (the first day of availability). Most of the dogs have already been adopted.
Our throwaways are now somebody’s treasure. THIS is the way animals should be treated.
Thank you to all involved in this rescue tale. From shelter, to land transport, to flight transport, to adoption agency, ending in a Furever home.
Stay tuned! MERCH is coming, MERCH is coming!
Peep goes to Crawfish City!
Peep was holding down the office at our family crawfish restaurant last night! She was deemed an essential worker by her foster mom! Johnny Jump up to the rescue! (Literally)
While Peep is safe and in foster, there are SO many others that aren’t. We get 5-7 calls each day asking for help with an unwanted litter (spaying mom, too), help with a stray, or they have seen a particular pup on Facebook that they want our help.
Please help us continue this lifesaving work by donating, fostering, or volunteering!
Stay safe everyone! -Shannon
Welcome Gumbo (tan-M), Gator (B&W-M) and GrisGris (black-F) to The Rescue Life!
These babies were found under a home and unfortunately, no mom came back to retrieve them! 😢
Big thanks to Brittany Hightower for rescuing these babies from a terrible fate!
They are SAFE! -Shannon
