UPDATE 3/17: His stray hold, per RI law has ended, and we were able to remove his vest, which unfortunately contained no additional identifying information. To clarify, this is not a verified service dog vestโit is a commercially available vest that can be purchased online.
We also want to reassure everyone that we thoroughly scanned his entire body for a microchip, as we are well aware that they can migrate. While our staff has been able to slowly engage with him, he does not exhibit the temperament or training expected of a service dog. Despite extensive efforts, no one has come forward to claim him.
Our team will now focus on assessing and addressing any medical or behavioral needs before he becomes available for adoption in the coming days. We appreciate the communityโs concern and input, and we want to assure you that every step has been taken with the care and diligence that we bring to every animal in our care. Thank you for your support.
UPDATE: We were able to scan for a microchip, but he does not have one. His vest has a tag with the name โAchilles,โ but he is very fearful, and we havenโt been able to safely remove it to check for more information.
