Meet our new special needs rescues Jack and Rose!
Someone told us the local livestock auction had some hedgies out who seemed to be in bad shape, so we rushed right over. Jack had injuries to his ge****ls and is missing most of his teeth - and Rose is missing one eye and completely blind in the other as well as having an injured foot. And worst of all: they were being sold together in one carrier, meaning the poor blind girl is now on pregnancy watch. We were worried about what would happen had they gone home with someone who didn’t know to separate them or couldn’t provide them the significant veterinary care they require, so we decided we weren’t leaving without them and spent a pretty penny just to get them home and safe. They just had some much-needed baths and nail trims, next step is medicating their various ailments.
Amazingly, they both have excellent temperaments despite the rough lives they’ve lived. We’re sure they’ll make amazing pets after some TLC.

We were recently contacted by someone in Bergen County looking for a good home for their young male hedgie Bean. Bean is about 4 months old and was purchased from NJ Exotics. Like any hedgie, he can be nervous when first grabbed but is a sweetie once he is warmed up. New adopter would have to go pick him up from his current home in Bergen County (North Jersey). She is asking a low adoption fee. We would prefer an experienced owner who already knows how to work with hedgies since this poor guy has already been bounced around so much for such a young hedgie.

Can’t believe we found another hedgie outside of our home with no notification from whoever left him. We want to stress to you all that our rescue does not ask for any surrender fees or donations, and we do not judge anyone for wanting to rehome their hedgie. There is no reason whatsoever to leave your hedgehog outside without contacting us.
This little guy was fully duct taped into an unlabeled box with no air holes, and it was 57 degrees out when we found him (15 degrees below the minimum temperature safe for hedgehogs). If we weren’t home or didn’t notice the box in time, he likely would not have survived.
Please reach out to us via phone or Facebook if you ever need to surrender to our rescue. Or at the very least, ring our doorbell and have a note on the box telling us there’s a hedgehog inside. We will take in ANY hedgie, no judgment and no questions asked. All we want is for them to be safely surrendered and immediately brought into our warm home with no danger to the hedgehog.
