I am a lesson horse.
I am a horse that isn’t as recognized as the top hunter jumpers, the best western pleasure horse, or the 1D barrel horse, I am a lesson horse. I am the backbone of the foundation to do all of those things. I am a lesson horse.

I am not loved by one person. I am loved by several people. I don’t have my person, I have my people. I am a lesson horse.

I will teach your child and yourself more than just to ride. I will bring your child out of their shell. I will teach your child about life. I will be yours and their shoulder to cry on. I am a lesson horse.

I will bring my family the joy of teaching kids. I will bring my families business growth. I am so loved by my family, even if they don’t express it everyday. My family allows others to show me love and enjoy me. I am a lesson horse.

At the end of your childs’ journey on a lesson horse, they will out grow me. They will find one that jumps higher, a horse that is show quality, a horse much faster than me. But, I will never outgrow being a lesson horse. I will be the one that loved your child and helped your child grow into the rider and person they are. I am a lesson horse.

At the end of my time as a lesson horse; I will be covered in grey hair. Each grey hair came from each hour I spent as a lesson horse. I will be in a field of green grass, I will be taken care of as I was when I was a lesson horse. I will watch your child from across the pasture love her new horse. But, I will love your child more than any horse can. I will be the backbone of the business, the family, and your child. Don’t forget about me, I am a lesson horse.

Good morning All!
We are looking for ideas for the holiday promotion for lessons!
We normally do something like buy one get one free or buy 4 get the fifth free.
I am look to book some lessons specific to Barrel racing to teach our more advanced kids - patterns, seat and hand position, how to pick up the horse’s shoulder in the turn, lead changes on a pattern and much more.
So looking for ideas to help this program get moving!
We are almost finished building our full size arena so full size patterns can be worked on.

So on our way home from State in Watsonville we shredded a tire somehow. We were in Selinas and pulled off the freeway stopping at a fast food restaurant.
As the guys were working on the changing it both jacks either broke or didn’t work.
I walked to the U-Haul company across the street.
What amazing people! I asked if they had a jack and told them I would pay to borrow it. The family spoke very little English but we managed to communicate well. The husband led me to their garage and handed me a three ton jack to borrow and refused me paying for it.
When we were finished I immediately gave it back with a tip which he tried to refuse.
So grateful for the kindness people show for strangers!
If you ever need party supplies or rent a U-Haul and are in the Selinas area please look them up!
So grateful!

We are back!
Lots of fun lots of memories made! More pictures to come but can only post a few at a time!
These are our groups winners. Four of them won money in jackpot runs and three of them won buckles in their division.
We are so very proud of all of our riders that rode this last week in the CSHA state championships of gymkhana! You all did amazing. Friendships built and great memories made!

Bo Jax. “Boo”. Today we put you to rest surrounded by the people who loved you since you came to us. You are and always will be the most courageous, steadfast and stoic of horses. You taught us that life is good and to go with the flow. Unless it was an umbrella in wind-then you have to run. We love you and miss you, but we know we will see you again.

Good evening,
We will be taking 13 riders and 15 horses to Watsonville October 7th through the 14th.
We are in need of volunteers to feed and water twice a day.
Here is the link for signing up.
We will have a book with all details including emergency supplies and contacts. There will be people staying on the ranch and only those that board or are scheduled to volunteer will be allowed through the gates.
We are so very appreciative for all your help!

We have 4 stalls a round pen and a large arena open for intake of animals being evacuated. We also have trailer parking so you can leave your trailer here while your animals are here!

Good morning All!
It has been a very busy week!
Lots of stuff going on here at the ranch.
The heat this week has been terrible so not a lot of riding.
We did gain a new sponsor for Daniel. He will teach her to be a great rider! Very excited for them both.
If you are looking for a companion horse please let us know. We have several that are not rideable but are great companions for other horses.
We are currently looking for volunteers for a set week and it will be scheduled. We need morning feed and watering done along with evening feed and watering completed.

Good morning!
Everyday we have stuff going on!
Yesterday we had the ferrier here again.
He evaluated a few horses and worked on six others.
It was a beautiful morning for it to be done.
We love what we do here ❤️

Good morning all!
I have been struggling to word this post.
I have good news and bad news about Ghost.
We spent 4 hours at the Vet Hospital yesterday getting him checked out!
The good news is he doesn’t have Osteocarcenoma which we are very thankful for.
Unfortunately they found severe arthritis in his stifle on the right rear leg. After nerve blocks, X-rays and ultrasound he has been placed on comfort care. This is most likely an old injury from before our time with him and as they age arthritis sets in.
His time left may be weeks it could be months, it will all depend on his quality of life.
He has been placed on pain management and as soon as he starts showing breakthrough symptoms or he struggles to get up we will arrange for him to be PTS with all who have loved him here by his side.
This is the hardest part of what we do. He will become a sanctuary horse and stay here until it is time to cross the rainbow bridge. We will keep a very close eye on him and are looking into some special shoes to help keep him as comfortable as possible!
