Our next basic classes!

We have:
Wednesday from 6:45-7:30 PM starting July 16

Read below for what is taught in this class! Link below 👇🏻

This level is 5 weeks long in person. It also includes zoom meetings on Thursday nights to cover behavioral problems!

In this level we start working building a foundation for all on leash obedience (heel, come, stay, etc) and cover ALL behavior problems (mouthing, jumping, aggression). In this level we are working on dealing with distractions so they respond regardless of surrounding distractions, and teaching the dog to respond on the first command. We are working towards getting them ready to start off leash in the next class.

🚨 Foster Alert! 🚨

Five precious 7-week-old puppies just arrived from North Carolina. Their mom was a stray, and thanks to kind neighbors, these pups were cared for until they could come to us.

They’ve tested negative for parvo and are vaccinated, but we’re at capacity and urgently need foster homes. All supplies are provided. Can you help save lives and give these little ones a warm, loving space to grow?

Apply to foster now at RebasRescue.org/foster or message us for details. Please share to help us find foster families ASAP!

TRAINING TIP OF THE WEEK!

The best time to start training is the moment you get your dog! Keep in mind - training is not a “diet”. It’s not 10 minute of practice a day. It’s a “lifestyle change”. It’s in your everyday interactions that you can make the most impact- positive or negative.

Even with good intentions to set aside time to train and teach your dog lots of obedience commands and rules - if you let daily interactions happen that teach what you DON’T want- you’re setting you (and your dog) up for failure.

Here’s an example. Your dog wakes up with you in the morning and jumps on you because he’s so excited. Then you go outside and he refuses to come inside. You finally chase him around or bribe him inside with a cookie. He grabs something off the counter he shouldn’t have and runs around the island. You play “chase me” trying to get the towel back. You team up with a family member to corral him and get the towel. 10 minutes later he has p**ped on the floor- he didn’t p**p when you were outside! You get his leash to take him for a walk - he loves to go for a walk- so he’s jumping on you, barking, jumping on the door… sound familiar?

In that example above - you missed opportunities to teach him good manners when greeting, coming when called, house manners (not stealing things), work on housebreaking him, and teach manners/rules about how to behave when the leash goes on.

In a perfect world, all dogs would start training as soon as they come to their new family! Frequently, we don’t see dogs come for training until bad habits and behavioral problems have started. While sooner is better, it is NEVER too late!

We can help! Give us a call!
